Whats the Chermside Story ?

Anyone know the facts about the Chermside rebowl? I guess it's a league matter but there are various rumours flying around which should be put to rest. Interesting little can of worms, can someone fill us in?

Sure .. noone better than me.

A problem was discovered during league on Tuesday night with the last 6 lanes (lanes 21-26) during the u25's league on Tuesday night. Everyones balls were skidding into the pins and when I saw this around the middle of game 2 I laughed (mostly because Id never seen anything like it)

Went and saw our tech, who went and checked the machine. A bolt had come off somewhere in the machine. Now without knowing too much detail in effect on the first run it was washing but this "missing" bolt caused the machine not to s_uck up the wash. On the second run the machine oiled as normal. What this meant was 30something foot of oil and 60ft to the pindeck was detergent. Interesting pridicament.

So instead of sticking our heads in the sand and saying "Stiff Bickies, it's not our problem" the offer was made to the bowlers who were affected to rebowl that week of bowling. All bowlers took it up and they will be rebowling the week of league at a time suitable (im trying to organise that now) and will be contacting all and advising.

Good to see some centres aren't sfraid to say there was a technicial malfunction.

The comment we get from staff is, "you're a 200+ average bowler....you should be able to adjust"

Graham...anytime you want to come to Tassie..feel welcome...we need you at our centre!!

Good job!

i heard a rumour that a certain bowler who took advantage of the certain condition is not too happy about having to rebowl

AND PERSONALLY I DON'T BLAME HIM

did we not contest matches on the same pairs of lanes, meaning all conditions were the same for these matches.

this is the first time that matches have been so called teared up, thrown in the bin and bowled again

SETTING A VERY VERY BAD PRECEDENCE HERE GUYS

ANDROO

you are right, and its good to see centres admit fault, at the end of the day, we are human.

which i believe chermside should have done and obviously did which i applaud

but my previous comment stands

I was one of the bowlers who had to bowl on that condition (it affected 6 out of the 14 lanes being used for the league) and it was pretty shocking to bowl on. While obviously the head to head scratch points would not have been affected by these conditions, there is a different draw for handicap which therefore meant people bowling on the different condition were playing people who bowled on the normal condition. Also, looking at the scores, averages would have dropped for many people and they would have had no chance at winning the high scratch and handicap game prizes for next week.

I thought we were all choosing whether we wanted to re-bowl or not individually ... I know the bowler in question did not want to but I thought he had the option not to re-bowl. But thanks do go to Graham etc for caring enough to give us a explanation and a choice.

Craig .. had it been a case of bowling the same person on the same lanes well then yeah sure put it down to bad luck and move on. But because as Kris has said the handicap draw is different and someone on the affected lanes might be bowling against someone ont he affected lanes and unfortunately that causes a problem. The handicap prize fund is EXACTLY the same as our scratch prizefund so it isnt any less a competition.

In regards to a certain bowler being unhappy .. my memory serves me correctly that "I don't care" was said .. so im a little pissed off that this bowler couldnt come to me and air the problems and had to go "protest" to someone else. Sorry for trying to do the right thing by the bowlers.

hey graham

don't apologise for doing something right

ok, i was under the impression that it was scratch affected, now that you clarified that, all is clear

cheers
