PRESS RELEASE
Two World Champions come together for the opening of the 2010 Rachuig
Trophy Tournament
On Tuesday 20th October 2010 Tenpin Bowling Australia held the opening ceremony of the 47th Rachuig Trophy tournament at Mt Gravatt Bowling Centre in Brisbane.
The Rachuig Trophy tournament is an annual event and is hotly contested by male and female teams from every State and Territory in Australia and international male and female teams from New Zealand.
At this year’s opening Australian Swimmer of the year Jessica Schipper addressed the Rachuig bowlers outlining her rise through the sport of swimming. In addition to outlining some of her career highs, Jessica spoke about the many sacrifices required to succeed within sport, and the importance of supportive parents in the development of junior athletes.
The Rachuig event attracts many of tenpin bowling's sporting heroes, and it was no surprise to those who know her to see Ann-Maree Putney introduce herself to Jessica and personally thank her for her presentation to the
Rachuig athletes. This was a photo op in the making as two world champions from very different sports came together in the celebration of elite sport.
