The Brisbane and Sydney sale flights to and from Townsville, and the Adelaide or Darwin flights to Cairns are evidently from 15 October, but the Melbourne (Tullamarine) flights are available a week earlier from 8 October.
Carry on hand luggage of 10 kgs included, and check in baggage can be added when booking for additional cost – still, incredibly reasonable fares.

Just checked the jetstar website and they are having scheduled maintenance on the site from 3pm today until 3am Sunday. Obviously a great time to put on a sale when you can't access their website to book.

MY SINCERE APOLOGIES ! You're right - it was 11.59AM Saturday that the sale finished and I'm very sorry that I misread the time.
I know some people managed to organise flights, and I'll post details of any other discount fares that may become available.
Meantime, Queensland Rail is offering some very reasonable train fares to Townsville - might be worth checking this option too - www.queenslandrailtravel.com.au
