Hammer’s biggest bad boy of the year is ready to go!
Here’s the newest info on the ball you’ve been waitingfor…our new Taboo introduction!
Hammer started by doing something a little different from a naming standpoint. It’s easy to get caught up in all the naming drama with
What’s wrong with just sticking with a series name and building on that brand equity? Nothing of course! and that’s exactly what we’re doing in the Taboo series.
This introduction is called Taboo Blue/Silver, and has a worldwide release date of September 29, 2011. Today is the worldwide information release.
Anyone who bowls can see that the recent developments in Hammer coverstock technology are driving this brand in the bowling market.
Hammer placed a ton of emphasis on this coverstock development starting around two years ago. These covers don’t come to products overnight though. We just
started seeing some of those successful new designs in veneer technology last season with the Taboo. The new Taboo Blue/Silver uses one of the covers
we targeted in research testing as an exceptional performer.
Grand Theft Reactive II (GTRII) Pearl builds off of the original Taboo GTR cover and gives this intro more mid-lane friction and overall hook.
Bowlers will see 2-4 boards more hook out the Blue/Silver Taboo. This ball is a monster on oily lane conditions, and will be the first ball out of most bowler’s bags on fresh lane
conditions.
Another first for Hammer is the finish on this Taboo Blue/Silver. We’ve finished Blue/Silver with 800 Abranet, followed by 1000, 2000, and 3000 grit Abralon pads.
This is the first Hammer ball with 3000 grit used as the final finish. This gives us a little more texture than 4000 grit balls without the early grab of a 2000 finish.
These 3000 grit Abralon pads are available from our Powerhouse brand if you do not have these in stock already.
Make sure to be prepared on this item, as your customers will be asking for this pad for refinishing purposes on the Taboo Blue/Silver.
Another area of work that we’ve taken a hard look at is finish consistency. Over the years, our smooth grit sanded balls have come out of the plant at tight texture
tolerances. But some customers have noticed gloss differences in balls over time due to the long usage of Abralon pads on the finish line. After a 2-week shutdown
and a reconfiguration of the entire plant, Hammer is proud to bring you a sanded product that will have a more consistent, 3000 grit smooth finish coming off the
finish line. You’ll notice far fewer balls that have any large amount of smooth sanding gloss on them. This will be a huge win on the retail shelf from a consistency standpoint.
Just another awesome improvement from the toughest brand in bowling!
We’ve also worked very hard to maintain the dark, sexy, and somewhat naughty Taboo image with this new product.
