Lost Superannuation
It’s worth checking whether you have any superannuation funds that are dormant. If you have a smallish balance in a fund that you’ve not paid into for a while you may be surprised as to how much the sum has shrunk to as a result of the fees and charges that are levied onto the account. This happens regardless of whether an account is “live” or not however a dormant fund will not earn money fast enough to offset the fees.
I’ve recently encountered people with a balance of $0.01 in their super accounts, all the money previously paid in having been eaten away over the years.
Don’t let this happen to you. Check whether you have any funds you have not rolled over and if so, consider what to do with them. Dig out your old employment details and contact the super fund. Find out what your account balance is and what your options are available. Also check Superseeker and see if a super fund has “lost” you.
It’s your money. Don’t lose it.
