After calling Lee Mathey and after much discussion yesterday I think I may have a solution to the debate on how the “PACER” spot bowlers may or not affect the outcome of this tournament.
I would just like to make it clear that the idea for these “PACER SPOTS” was to try and give some bowlers experience and the want to enter in future tournaments and to bring the numbers up to the required 96 entries to make this tournament format work successfully.
I did originally suggest to Lee that this decision of his “PACER SPOTS” was always going to be a tough and complicated exercise, in his defense he is only trying to do what he thought was for the good of the sport and tournament bowling in Australia…
The proposed solution if we can get agreement from the majority would be;
We have limit of 16 PACER SPOT bowlers;
By doing this Pacer spot bowlers will have no influence on the outcome of the tournament but it will still be giving them the experience of bowling against and with some of Australia’s best bowlers…
The only snag will be that we may need to move up to 8 bowlers out of B squad into A squad to make this work…This is obviously not the Bowlers problem but now Lee’s but it would be great if there is some bowlers in B squad that could make it a little easier by swapping this would very much appreciated…
This is only a proposal that I gave Lee and I would like to know what everybody thinks.
We would love to keep the 40 for a win and 20 for draw because; a game within a game will add excitement and atmosphere into the Tournament...
At the end of the day they say that cream rises to the top.
Let’s see if this is the case with this format.
Please leave your thoughts or criticism here in this thread...This is the only fairest way that I can see this working, this doesn’t mean that it’s the only way…If you have a better idea please leave it here…

We have limit of 16 PACER SPOT bowlers;
- 8 Pacer Spot bowlers are put into Squad A 1 per set of lanes
- 8 Pacer Spot bowlers are put into Squad B 1 per set of lanes
- Every time you play a Pacer Spot bowler in qualifying, it’s an automatic 40 pin win
- A Pacer cannot win a Match
- A Pacer cannot feature in the Cash spots
- A Pacer cannot feature in the finals
- Pacers will not enter into the seeding system after round 1
