I went to the last day of Melbtenpin cup to watch the finals & the bowling was great .I dont understand why there weren't many Spectators the scoring was good & many close matches were being played .
I know there were a few under 21s with some juniors aswell bit nothing like 3 years ago. I see this as a perfect op for the young & old alike to not only watch these guys bowl but learn a few things that may help their own games .
I remember when you had to pay to go & watch the Melbourne tenpin cup...Thats right pay to get in. Stands to the roof & boy did I get drunk watching them .....Just my thoughts .

I went and watched the first 2 days but not the final on the Monday as I had tickets to the Football (Now I wish I did not go!). Although there were a few there I think there could be alot more go and watch. I dont know what the reason would be but maybe alot of people use those long weekends to go away or to just relax at home. Maybe they are social reasons why they dont go. It might not just be the bowling or the marketing etc.

As much as alot of us would have liked to have been there, for some of us its quite a drive just to watch, and why waste so much petrol on this time of price hikes when we can get updated online. Its not that we dont want to its just money over rules.

THere was a good crowd atmosphere for the 2nd phase of the matchplay once the 2nd cut had been made, but it wasn't like a few years ago when they had grandstands that used to be packed tothe rafters. As I recall up to about 6 years ago, they were even able to charge admission for spectators and still filled the place.

I still believe that part of the problem is that bowlers see such huge scores in league play nowadays that they no longer have any interest in watching the sports elite, even exciting players like Belmo because they can see high scoring levels every week during their league. Its kind of a "Well, whats so special about these guys" type of attitude. THS's and todays equipment has blurred the boundaries between the sports elite and higher level league play, especially on tough tournament patterns (not that this pattern was tough) and it effects the number of people that come through the door purely to watch.
