How about an AMF centre doing something for the "bowler" for once and not just for padding their own P&L statement bottom line?..

A 10 game win a spot is just ridiculous..it's no wonder tournament participation is falling. Entry fees are getting eaten up by the lineage and not enough is going into the prize fund.

How many games and what entry fee would you suggest?
And you would pay 1 spot in ever how many bowlers?

Based on the assumption that the entry fee for the 2008 South Pacific Classic will remain at $225 I would propose either of the following win-a-spot sweepers

eight bowlers @ $45 entry fee
first block of two games lowest two scores are eliminated 8 - 2 (16 lines)
second block of two games lowest two scores eliminated 6 - 2 (12 lines)
third block of two games lowest two scores eliminated 4 - 2 (8 lines)
fourth block of two games lowest score eliminated 2 - 1 (4 lines)
WINNER receives SPC spot

eight bowlers @ $45 entry fee
five game sweeper with the top scorer receiving the SPC spot

We've run a few of these win-a-spot at Forest Hill recently. We've had fairly good participation, fierce competition for the spots and everyone has enjoyed themself. The odds are pretty good with 1 in 8 bowlers taking home a spot. I'll be competing once again.
