Natalie Shelley from Victoria has won her first ever QLD Ladies Classic at Caboolture Tenpin Bowl just north of Brisbane today. Shelley, going into the Match Play with 138 pins to make up from over night leader and local Caboolture bowler Linda Green, had a shaky start but soon got the ball rolling and finished with games of, 213,268,233,197 to take the 2006 title, from Defending Champion Ann-Maree Putney from NSW. Kate Wilton from QLD was Third.
In an another exciting Match Play format this afternoon dominated by Shelley averaging 205.09 for her 23 games and compiled a 4-1-1-1 won-second-loss-Tie record in match play to finish with 4927 total pin fall for the event, and a Match Play average of 213.29. 2005 Australian national rankings winner, 2006 K&K runner up and 2005 Qld Ladies Classic defending champion Ann-Maree Putney finished second, with a 3-1-3 in match play to secure the second place with a 4909 pin fall for her 23 game average of 207.35 and Match Play average of 208.57 to miss out on winning the event for the 3rd year in a row by just 18 pins. Kate Wilton of Queensland took the Lead with just three games to go finished a further 22 pins behind Putney in third place due to her 4-3-0 record in match play to average 202.91 for the event..
Overnight leader Caboolture local Linda Green finished in 9th place and Christene Webster rounded out the Ladies top 15.
Queenslander Faye Bottomley had the high Game for the tournament of 279.
