Keep the scores coming!!!!!

I was at the bowl for all 3 squads bowling today.

The most enjoyable part of watching everyone bowl, was the pure enjoyment on peoples faces while bowling. I dont think I saw anyone crack it at all. Good to see people taking pride in representing their country, and prove that there is passion amongst the younger bowlers

Milkman, How could and why would they possibly crack it. With scores like that they would only get upset if there egos got the better of them and they thought they were 250+ average bowlers for real.
Im sure you wouldnt see to much enjoyment on there faces if they bowled on the AO condition from last weekend.

Not everyone averaged 250.

Eg: Matt Obrien and Lindsay Kilpatrick both opened up with sub 175 games. However, while moving pairs, they both had huge smiles on their faces.

Just because 3 bowlers averaged 250, doesnt mean everyone had it easy on the condition. Some of the lower ranked countries like Guam, still managed to enjoy themselves, even though they struggled.

Thats what I was talking about, not the guys could throw their shots 5 - 7 boards off their target and still manage to get the ball into a flush pocket shot. Its the fact these guys just seemed to enjoy being on the lanes, regardless of their bowling performance. I did not hear one single negative comment at all for the entire weekend, but that may be due to the fact that over 50% of the bowlers dont speak english, hehe.

I dont know whether I regret not having bowled as a junior,or pleased that I took it up later in life.
It was in the very late 60,s when i had my first two games,i was in my early 20,s,totally involved in Soccer and squash, and surfing on the Gold coast each weekend..not to mention chasing everything that wasnt nailed down..lol
Ahhh the Austin A 40..if only it could talk.
I shot 158..165.
I had 7 strikes,and none of them meant a thing..i thought fluke.
BUT i spared 4 single pins..and that was the thrill..i thought..now thats skill..and the girl at the counter was cute.

I know thats why a hooking ball never appealed to me from there on...i had the philosophy that the hooking ball would get 2 more strikes then me..but i would spare 4 more times then them.
I stuck by that game plan, and even today..2002..i stick by it..no choice now ..lol
I can hook a ball, but each time i look at it..i think..unless you bowl a zillion games a week practise..a ball crossing so many boards..uneven oiling patterns as they break down..your out to lunch more often then not.
Now with a straighter ball..you dont need a zillion games, and can maintain a higher standard..i love the lazy way out in all things.
So you can imagine in matchplay..the bigger the ball thrown by my opponent the more I loved it.
You wait for that mind boggling split,or nowadays the more common 7-10 ,then slam in a turkey against them..bye bye..(called silent..possible 8-10..arrogance)
I made wishes the first time i knew about the sport..ie Rachuig..FIQ..the Pro circuit.
Do i bowl for just fun..nah..set a goal.
Anyone who can spare this well should set goals...i have years to learn how to master striking.
So i wanted to not just represent the state or my country..i set goals to Captain them..i wanted to end up on the front cover of a sports magazine..(I did give the cover of Time magazine the odd dream .lol)
I didnt just want to get on TV..i wanted to win on TV.
I wanted Gold medals to leave as a legacy for my kids..give them bragging rights..lol.
I wanted to travel the world..win trips and holidays,money,trophies...i wanted to hear the national anthem..standing on top of the podium.
Ive sunk 30 odd years of blood sweat and tears into the game..
Im 98% there..these 2 missing %,s are still work in progress..thats why i cant give it away yet..nor do i want too..now its real fun..and i know the other 2% is achievable.
