I would personally like to thank the staff of Cairns Bowl for their excellent treatment of all the bowlers, I mean where else would you have;

* Half the lights turned off in the centre with music pumping for a disco party during Rachuig roll offs

* Two lanes of social bowlers placed next door to those rolling off (i.e social on 7&8 while roll off was on 9&10) with people stepping out on you while you were bowling

* Machines that broke down and played up constantly while at least one of the technicians spent most of their time up the front talking.

* Lanes that were completely different every single time they were oiled, even though they were "supposed" to be the same

* A poorly stocked and under staffed snack bar/canteen where if they actually had what you were after you were forced to wait a considerable amount of time (Don't get me started about the toasted sandwiches!!!)

* Players areas that had unknown sticky substances in them at the start of the day, and were forced to be mopped numerous times.

Last and by no means least I would like to thank the NQAC/Cairns Bowl (Let's wait for some monumental buck passing here) for keeping all competing bowlers 100% in the dark as to where they were coming, with no progressive score sheets being prepared to allow people to see where they stood in comparison to their fellow competitors. :x :x :x

Seriously, some of these people couldn't organise a good time in a brothel with a fist ful of $50's and we are dumb enough to pay for the privelage.

Come on people, wake up and smell the coffee!!!!

In all fairness the canteen issues were the same in Townsville last year and usually are whenever there is a tournament etc on at any centre. I mean to say if they can run out of Powerade at the Nationals/ Walter De Veer..... and worst still Bourban at the Walter De Veer Dinner!!! The rest of your post well - no comment (I have to live here! LOL!)

Spanner I will post De Veer results when I can get my hands on them OK

unbelievable

Hi there guys. Stephen i think you have hit the nail on the head mate your words speak for alot of us. Im sorry ICE i dont know who you are, and im sure you are a really nice person, but i fail to see when our centre has never looked after there bowlers i always shut my centre down from social which is my bigger revenue i always and always make sure i have enough powerade in the fridge. I held a Ncz for juniors not long ago and never run out of a thing. My conditions are always as promised not too mention a 3 : 1 which wasnt close on the weekend and The Nucifora family pride themselves on looking after every single bowler that enters thru the doors. So in closing i think you should take back what you said about all centres running short and dont think to include all of us in the same sentence as the one in question.

Sam, it is Lana. You have misunderstood the context of my post. I wasn't having a go at any centre, especially not yours. I was just defending the girls in the cafe, not the centre as a whole, because I know they work hard and do their best when they are flat out. I was just pointing out the fact that when a centre hosts an event there is always a bit of a wait for food, especially food that has to be cooked ie: toasted sandwiches and sometimes mistakes are made. That wait can be expected anywhere. That's all. It is nobody's fault it is just a fact of life when there are a lot of bowlers there on the day. Let me point out that the cafe in Cairns is run idendependant of the bowl, unlike some other centres. I don't want to get into conversation on the rest of what was said about Cairns centre because as I said I have to live here, but nothing suprises or fases me anymore. I have no complaints about any centre I have bowled in out of town - Currajong, Kirwin, Burdekin, Atherton & Innisfail as you have always looked after the bowlers. My only complaint about Forrest Hill was that they ran out of Powerade, a bit ridiculous during Nationals, but apart from that it was fantastic down there.

Hi Lana

Hi Lana im sorry but i have not taken it out of text at all and if you go back and have a good read you will see exactly what you have said. Also if a cafe is run independantly than isnt it the job of the person in charge of the cafe to communicate with the centre to see what up and coming events are on and make sure that they are prepared for it. In one case on the weekend one of the cafe staff asked a fellow bowler of mine who are we and what are we here for? This explains the insufficent supplies be it staff or stock.
Like i said Lana you are a really nice person and i hope you dont take this to heart this is just my opionion. ie: as for the toasted sandwich What toasted sandwich?

No, that's fine, nothing taken to heart but I will word my posts much more carefully in future, as I never meant to start a debate or offend anyone. We all are entitled to our opinions and are annoyed by different things. Myself I was ready to stick those bells that were buzzing constantly up some granny's nose! I just know the cafe staff cop a lot of flack from people unhappy with lane conditions etc, normally patient understanding people who are just plain frustrated. As long as you realise I'm not bagging your centre or staff, I have always enjoyed bowling there and it is very apparent your centre is run by bowlers and takes good care of everyone. I just don't see a busy cafe as a big issue that's all, I didn't go hungry or thirsty and that's the main thing. I see it being more important to have good lane conditions and a well organised event. I hope you have not taken offence, see you at the next roll-off hey!

HAY GOOD TO SEE YOU UP THERE LEIGH HARRIS
GO YOU GOOD THING

KELBELL =D> :lol: :lol:

As an ex bowler in North queensland all I can say is I still don't miss some of you. Maybe the N.Q.A.C. should be called N.Q.B.C. 'B' for babies as that is what the Committee have to deal with at times. These bowlers crying like badies have, in the past stated that they don't need a coach with them at the Nationals because of their high skill level. Are they going to direct liable abuse at T.B.A.L. and Illawarra when things are not done according to them at the 2005 Nationals.
As for lane conditions being different every three game block wouldn't that be normal. You can wash and oil the same each time but other conditions change which affect the lane conditions.
From what I heard of the last Roll-off in 2004 the conditions seemed to have been changed greatly for the last block as there was more 200+ games bowled in that block then in all other blocks added together.
If the conditions were so bad in Cairns how come the top averages are higher then at the 2003 and 2004 roll offs.
As for no progressive scores, I heard there was but so what, you should concentrate on your own bowling. Bowl the best you can and if you make it at the end of the day good luck.
Maybe these people should get on the N.Q.A.C. and they can try to run things perfectly - sorry I heard they were asked to be on this years Exec. and declined.
READ YOUR BOWLERS CODE OF CONDUCT [-X
How about instead of getting around like headless chooks get a life and worry about something important like the crime rate or the price of mangoes.

I would just like to say on behalf of all juniors that stepped foot into your centre weather it be just a supporter or a bowler, who was bowling, it could have been more tops, id jus like to say even when the power went out it was still tops, we couldnt have had anymore of an awesome time,

i know the cairns boys did well staying undefeated :p
( where are the track balls?)

as for cairns ten pin bowl, you jus learn to live with it, although thats the kind of centre it is, its not gunna change,

Cheers

To Ex Bowler,

First off it is extremely hard to have any respect for, or pay much creedence to someone who has such a yellow streak that they they are too afraid to identify themselves whilst slinging mud at others.

You are right in saying that when lanes are oiled after each 3 game block there would some slight differences, but I fail to see how a pair of lanes can be different to each other (e.g. lane 15 going straight and lane 16 hooking dramatically) This happened on almost every pair, which is simply ridiculous.

You heard wrong about the progressive scores, and if you are happy to bowl oblivious to what is happening around you that's fine. However a lot of people would have liked to know how they were going.

That's right I was asked to be on the NQAC, and it's also right that I declined. Unfortunately I have a job that means that I have very little free time, and as such I choose to spend that time with my family. I know I am not perfect and don't expect anyone else to be either, but if I have a problem or things aren't being done right then I have every right to speak up about it. How does this involve the Code of Conduct???? or are we suppose just cop any old crap that is dished up to us???

If your such a big person why don't you come and talk to me in person instead of trotting out your puerile arguement and hiding behind your little computer name. I might be a headless chook, but you my friend are a complete GOOSE!!!!

Trust me when I say that I certainly don't miss you, whoever the hell you are and be sure to send my regards to all of your fellow residents up there on Planet Moron where I have no doubts you are in a position of authority.

Steve Hunt

Steve
I will be happy to come and talk to you next time I'm in Townsville in fact I will make a piont of it.
The reason I have not given my name is the fact that I have family still heavily involved in bowling with N.Q. that I did not think it fair to them to cop the flack for me. I will speak to them and if they don't mind I will post my name to you.
The updated scores were posted in Cairns at the counter apparently. I think after every 3 games.

I didn't see any scores until the morning of the second day, and then no update until after bowling was completed on day 2. Did anyone else see them posted more frequently?
