An important feature for me is that the ball has to be really solid in the pocket. I bought and Reaper in September last year and whilst it was new (compared to my plastic ball) hit beautifully and did for me what it needed to do. This year I was constantly hitting the pocket and leaving 8-10 splits and an assortment of other weird and wonderful combinations (revolutions were not a problem). I now have an Aqua Zone and when I get my consistency together it explodes the pins not just knocks them over, it is good on all lane conditions from oily to dry.
Attempting to find out what people use is like comparing bowling actions. Everyone bowls differently to the next person and therefor each ball will do slightly different things. I switched from little reactivity to relatively high reactivity. It is all in the consistency of the shot and my ability to adjust correctly to suit the conditions that is the key to the ball working for me.
