Firstly, I would like to congratulate Ann-Maree Putney on her third win in the Queensland Ladies Classic. A dominating and ruthless performance, showing that AMP is in a class of her own.
A feisty finish for Kate Wilton (256,234) took her into 2nd place with Bianca Flanagan (248,218) and Alicia Melton (247,244) both finishing well for 3rd and 4th placings.
With a full field (finally!) of 54 bowlers, the Classic represented the best of Australia’s women bowlers from all around the country. Junior, Youth, Open and ‘old’ bowlers were there, new bowlers to the tournament scene had their first taste of bowling with ‘the best’ and will improve through the experience.
Many, many thanks to our very generous sponsors:
BIG GIRLS DON’T CRY (ANYMORE) - original $$ commitment PLUS gorgeous goodies and even more cash.
BRIAN BATES (CABOOLTURE BOWL) - there are no words to express the gratitude for Brian’s help, $$ and co-operation. How fortunate are us tournament organizers to have him on board?
LOOKS GOOD PAINTING plus extra goodies - Jagga and Broni Morgan
MEGA AIR SHELVING - extra $$ and Ann Kirby even told Alan this time !
GLS - Craig Gray from Gray Laminating Supplies - a new a valuable asset for the future - we hope.
VIC WILKINS LANDSCAPES - lucky to escape with only $100 for 300 game.
AVON and Peter and Anne Lingard donated heaps of goodies for ‘stuff’ bags.
ACHIEVEMENT TROPHIES - Shellie and Will Van Dalen donated the trophy and Shellie even stayed to present it !
SILVER SPONSORS: A BIG LIST AND MANY, MANY THANKS TO YOU ALL.
TOTAL BOWLING - many thanks for providing the Classic with the avenue for nominations, updates and results - the majority of entries were received from the forum and it makes life easier for tournament organisers.
The results are in the Live Scores forum and on www.tenpin.org.
Extra payouts thanks to Big Girls and Mega Air.
$50 - High game outside the cash - 277 Tamara Harmsworth
$50 - Top Qld. bowler outside the cash - Tiffani Murphy
$50 - Top Senior bowler outside the cash - Mary Flower
$50 - Top Interstate bowler outside the cash - Laura Kairn
SILVER SPONSOR LUCKY DRAW - Bottle Chivas Regal - Darryl Alford (who originally thought up the idea of $50 Silvers)
RAFFLE - Bottle of Chivas Regal plus Bundy Rum - Kara Triulcio (bit of a worry, I may add)
THE BOW AWARD - Bianca Flanagan
I would like to once again thank THE TEAM: John Whillans, Linda Dau-Lewis (the nuisance raffle seller etc.), Gladys White, Vaughan White and Lyn DeLange.
Probably should mention Andrew Christopher (scorer, in-centre ‘stuff’) as well!
Finally, the one thing that puts the lid on a successful tournament is the BOWLERS. The competitive nature, good humour, frustration, relief all show at one time or another during the event. The camaraderie afterwards is worth the effort they put in (the Nth Old. chicks are good at camaraderie). Hope to see all of you and perhaps more in 2010 for our 12th Anniv.
SHIRT AUCTION - original 1999 Old. Ladies Classic Shirt signed by past winners will be auctioned at 2010 tournament - it will be framed etc. Keep watching and save your $$$ to get in ahead of Kelly Warren who will start the bidding and end it also, she hopes.
