At 19 years of age, Kara Triulcio shows that we may have another champion for the future in Australia - her gutsy win over the fast finishing Ann Maree Putney was a joy to watch. Well done! Kate Wilton, the 2007 champion showed her class once again with a fine 3rd placing.
Nice to see Krystal King bowl her way into the top 15 with a 300 in the 15th game of qualifying, which earned her another $100. The final 15 featured an interesting mix of bowlers with some tried and true finalists from past years, plus the up and coming bowlers of the future and one 'old chook'. No names mentioned !!
The 10th Anniversary of this tournament was celebrated with a couple of 'special' presentations and acknowledgements ..... 7 bowlers bowled the first event in 1999 and bowled in 2008 - Leesa Bartlem, Faye Bottomley, Mary Flower, Linda Green, Tanya Stevenson, Jenny Walsh and Alicia Melton (nee Meads) - and were presented with certificates with RED BOWS of course. Jenny Walsh received the RED BOW AWARD from Broni Morgan for her 9 events bowled.
Past winners, Kirstie Mills, Kelly Warren, Sam Warby, Ann Maree Putney, Natalie Shelley and Kate Wilton were acknowledged also for their achievement.
Additional prizes paid outside the cash went to High Game outside $$$ - Laura Kairn (Vic.) and Lucky Draw to Alicia Savill from Cairns.
Our Silver Sponsor initiative to raise the prize money was a great success with $2000 extra being collected to contribute to the $10000 total fund - the Chivas Regal lucky draw was won by Nanna Qualischefski. Many thanks to all of those who supported this womens tournament - heaps of the Silvers were 'blokes' !!!
Raffle (BIG bottle Chivas Regal plus Bottle Bundy Rum and a 'couth' carry bag) was won by Carly de Lange and 2nd prize to Jessica Lawrence.
