The PAP is axis point at which the ball rotates around as soon as you let the ball go. Its on the side facing the bowler as the ball goes down the lane. As soon as the ball starts revving down the lanes, your PAP changes as the ball 'flares' up. Hence why you get multiple rings of oil around the ball, but never on the same line. One technique of finding your PAP is get a pencil and draw a line on your track. Place the ball in a ball spinner so that the track is around the edge of the spinner. Turn it on and the point on top of the ball is your PAP. (I really hope that makes sense, I do know what I mean, but so hard to explain.)
3-Inch pin is either two things.
1. The distance between the Pin and CG.
or 2. The distance from the Pin to the PAP.
Hope this as helped in some way.
