Now they work it out....

This is the future!!!
I read an interesting ball review for the re-released Pearl Pulse in octobers BJI. Dave(lefty tester)Beach said that seeing how far we've come(as far as monster hook bowling balls go) he couldn't believe how well this old technology ball works on todays higher viscosity lane oils, this ball must have been ahead of its time. Guess almost anything from 1996 on can't be past it's use by date quite yet.

You've hit the nail right on the head. The ball technology in 1996 increased where the oil stayed the same. I spoke to Len Nicholsen from Kegle who has been dressing the lanes for the PBA for over 20 years.

They are only limited at the moment with what they can do with the oil. Hence why Kegle has been working on new stratergies like SPORT patterns and different ways of dressing lanes, in return getting the most out of the oil they are currently using.

I can tell you now the ball companies will ALWAYS stay ahead. I know of one company's tech guy who clearly stated " they haven't even developed oil for the sh*t I got ". They just won't be caught!

It goes to show that balls that were around in 1996 are still very effective (if well maintained). I can tell you that Track has realised this by releasing a new ball called the " Track Magic, The HEX ". This ball is basically a Triton ELite Pearl, with a different look on the lanes. Available in a pro shop near you now, at a very very good price!!!!

When my heat and elite wear out i might have to have a look! The ball tech you talked to George isn't the only one who has said stuff like that about making even stronger balls. There was an article in BJI in 1997 about how Ebonite developed the Red Wolf. In this article one of the Ebonite guys hinted that they had built a 'test ball' that broke ABC rules by pretty much turning left when it hooked (as in flat 90 degrees left!) What sort of oil would we need to keep anything like that on a lane!
