NEW!!! SHELLHARBOUR WEDNESDAY SCRATCH TRIOS LEAGUE! REFORMATION ON WEDNESDAY, 27TH MARCH, 2013

Hi all.

It is my great pleasure to introduce the soon-to-be-starting new Shellharbour Scratch Trios league. The reformation meeting will be on this Wedneaday, 27th March at 7pm. The cost of bowling each week is $26 pp for 3 games and prize fund and the league itself once it restarts will start at 7:30pm each night. We will be having a bowl after the meeting as well for anybody who would like to stick around and looking at starting the league 1-2 weeks after this Wednesday night.

The trios teams will be picked this Wednesday in a drafting system which is as follows (based on 10 teams):

The top 10 average bowlers will nominate whether they want to be captain until 10 captains are chosen (if anybody in the top 10 chooses against captaincy, then the next highest average bowler after the Top 10 gets a choice of being captain and so on and so forth until 10 captains are picked).

NEXT: The highest average captain will pick a team member and picks will continue until all 10 team captains have chosen a bowler. Bowlers have 1 chance to decline being in a team but if picked a 2nd time must bowl with the captain picking them.

NOTE: If people have the option of being captain and decline, they cannot decline being picked.

NEXT: After team partners are picked, the lowest 2 average bowlers (captain + bowler picked) will be the 3rd bowler for their team 1st, eg: 360 between 2 bowlers is the lowest total for the 2 averages...2nd is 362, 3rd is 364, etc.

Teams will pick from lowest to highest until all trios teams have all 3 bowlers.

League format and finals format to be announced this Wednesday, but there will be roughly at least 20-25 weeks + positional rounds included to determine the finalists for the end-of-league final.

If you want to bowl against some of the best bowlers in NSW this is the league to bowl in. With State Champions, NSW Rep's, and Australian Rep's all bowling in this league this is one of the best leagues in NSW in terms of competition.

Hi Rowey

What Centre is it on at

This is all well and good, but being a long time bowler at Shellharbour I'm just curious as to what time you plan on running this league? There is already a league on a Wednesday night at 7pm that is not even close to reformation. I don't plan on being in yet another league that gets the raw deal of an amalgamation.

I agree with Johnny above.

Perhaps the existing league should be consulted/informed before such claims and premature announcements are made.

Such poor organisation and consultation by the new owners is a great way to create unnecessary tension within a centre that used to be very friendly and free of such BS.

For me it feels like the worst aspect of StrikeZone is simply moving postcode!

Hold the Horses!
I can't say I'd have been too impressed to rock on up to my league tomorrow night to find dozens of Bowlers having a meeting to start a new FULL 12 LANE League over the top of our existing league that hasn't even made the halfway point yet!!!!
What do you expect to happen to us???? Seriously!? Do we not matter?
As a Bowler I would be ashamed to walk into another Bowling Alley & presume to organise a new league without even consulting those who already bowl in that very time slot.

This isn't the first League I've seen this happen to now at Shellharbour!!

Is it because you have the numbers you think it will make us less worthy??

The reformation meeting will be on this Wedneaday, 27th March at 7pm.
This suggests to me this league has already existed.... no doubt the "majority numbers" rule will kick us in the guts.

We will be having a bowl after the meeting as well for anybody who would like to stick around and looking at starting the league 1-2 weeks after this Wednesday night.
Will this be on the empty lanes while we bowl our League which starts each week at 7pm???? Or will you be happy to wait for us to finish bowling our League at approximately 8.15-8.30pm???? Who are we joking here??!!
I am SO angry right about now!!!!

How dare anyone attempt to do such a thing!

I am in no way interested in Bowling in such a league as it simply does not suit my simple social style.
It is the ONLY League I can bowl in allowing me to socialise with others, spending time with my partner in the Doubles league outside of work & home as we care for an elderly person. I simply cannot commit to any other days/times etc & this will mean the demise for Bowling for me as an individual.

Go away & let us at least FINISH our League before taking over!!!!

I have no issue with the creation of a new league AND I definately haven't an issue with new Bowlers! Especially of a high standard. However that shouldn't mean that we no longer matter.
I would have expected the new owners to actually give a shit about the little people too, the ORIGINAL Shellharbour Bowlers. Not just the larger mob that can be enticed over.

How damn rude!

Knowing that the Wednesday league at Shellharbour takes half the centre you can't just expect those guys to stop bowling or find another day of the week to bowl when they're schedules/social lives don't allow it. You cannot do it to 2 leagues!

Technically it would be 3 leagues if this is to happen.

Friday used to have a singles and doubles league, both of which are now swallowed by the "new" singles league. Friday Doubles was basically axed with no option to reform. We are allowed to finish our 4 game singles league, but it won't be restarted. There was very little to no respect paid to bowlers of both of those previous leagues.

It seems the same approach is being taken to the Wednesday league. Turn up with a stack of Johnny-come-latelies and try and crowd us out, the dedicated existing bowlers of the centre. Many of whom have bowled there for many years!

It is rude, arrogant and disrespectful no matter how elite you may feel!

Hi all. First and foremost my sincerest apologies. There was an error in my original type-up. It should be known that there is indeed an existing doubles league and that due to that fact we will respect this and the trios league will be bowling after the doubles league currently bowling on a Wednesday. Sorry to anybody who may have been a little upset about my original post. No starting time has been established and again we will be respectful of the doubles league currently bowling that night.

Rest assured I take full responsibility for any of the confusion that may have happened and rest assured also it is my utmost goal to look after the bowlers currently bowling in the centre to the best of my ability. I love bowling just as much as you all and I love that you are all so passionate about bowling and enjoy it so very much :)

Hope this post helps to clear things up a little bit.

Cheers,

Rowey

Rowey,

Thank-you for clearing that error up. I have no doubt that you are aware of the level of angst the Friday night hijack has caused, and the level of nervousness existing Shellharbour bowlers are feeling due to the rapid changes caused by the fleeing leagues arriving from other centers. I would have been rather annoyed had a Wednesday hijack even been considered, as I know other existing league members would have too. It would be a sad day for many who would have been disillusioned to the point of walking away from the centre and effectively the sport given the lack of credible Illawarra options.

For the record I do not begrudge change and hope that in time the planned changes produce a better center for bowlers, however they have to be done in the right way. That is work with the existing leagues through consultation and proactive communication that leaves us all happy. Presently it has been handled clumsily with unannounced changes forced upon bowlers without warning, and that has caused this nervousness/scepticism. Further, incomplete information has also caused further frustrations (i.e. no mention of the $5 spot reservation fee until we turned up to week 1 of Fridays league).

I think it would be well advised to double/triple check any announcements in the future.

Cheers,
EssKay

So glad to see I have support on this matter. I have no issues with more bowlers, more competition and even more leagues. I, for one, will not be shafted by yet another league. Friday night singles was handled very very poorly. Simple courteousy should have seen a rep/s from the existing singles league venture over to Shellharbour to consult the existing league BEFORE the end of the AMF singles. So now the Shellharbour singles are bowling around the new league while trying to finish their existing season, not to mention bowling under a 'board of directors' that was elected before league reformation giving the 'new' shellharbourbowlers no say. Being the minority in our own centre really burns me, and I won't be letting it happen with any other leagues too soon.

Hi All,

I am sure that something will be worked out.

The original post from Rowie is pretty much a cut and past of the same info that has been on Total for a few months and prior to the league moving to shelly bowl. The error was easy and knowing Rowie, the bowlers will always come first.

I for one don't care one bit if the new league starts at an 8:30 time slot after the existing league, the more bowlers at Shellharbour the better for the Bowl.
