New Brands

Does any one think with new brands of balls coming out e.g. circle, dyo-thayne, roto grip, mo-rich etc (i think there new cause i have only heard of these brands in the last 6 months) it will help the sport grow and bring the cost of balls down???

I don't know about helping the sport grow, but I know the cost of Visionary equipment is certainly lower than most other brands with no appreciable loss in quality. In other words they have more bang for the buck.

And I put my hands together once again to mr. stewart for turning yet another thread into a paid political announcement on behalf of the visionary

arrgghhhh you caught me !!!.... :D

.....ohh well...... defintiely not a paid one...but a political one none the less.....

mo-rich - one of the founders, mo pinel, is supposed to be the albert einstien of bowling... he has many patented cores and is now being manufactured by brunswick... so (on some balls) you get activator and his dynamic cores, also you get very good customer service in terms of layout help...

circle - manufactured by storm... i think they are just recycling old storm cores with new covers.

dyno-thane have a heapload of balls to choose from.

Track - like to call themselves the leaders in bowling technology... although C300 has developed a whole NEW coverstock material (epoxy resin). but then again C300 manufactures Track so the technology will eventually be shared

c300 - is set to release 2 new Epoxy Resin bowling balls... these are supposed to hook 10 boards more than any ball in the bully line... lets wait and see. supposedly with epoxy resin, reaction characteristics depend on the cure time of the coverstock. and NOT by addatives.

lane1 - famous for the diamond core which offered a very unique roll which was very controllable.. but they have not used the true diamond core for a few years now (except in the xxxl, plastic 2 piece).. lane1 also manufactured by brunswick and some balls use activator coverstock

brunswick - Zones (heavy rolling) and infernos (activator coverstock) is all the rave in the states... basically every1 who is winning is using a brunswick ball.

storm - balls go long and finish strong.. which is maybe why they are so popular here in australia due to our majority dry lane conditions.

rotogrip - recently purchased by storm.. i would reccomend their sonic line to anybody! entry level and mid performance is where roto-grip shines... rotogrip was made famous by the SD-73, which if you have one NIB please sell it to me!

ebonite - old school, hasnt released anything that has caused much hype lateley, manufactured by c300... v2 series seems to shine above the rest

amf300 - have been coming out with some pretty decent balls, using the cuda cores with enhanced mass bias weights... very strong backend but amf holds prejudice with many people due to their past "lousy" releases.

hammer - nothing hits like a hammer as they say.. also manufactured by c300, owned by ebonite.

visionary - developed a new AMB core construction system that minimises the affect drilling has on the balls reaction characteristics... dont know wether this is something positive or negative? both sides have their arguements

legends/lanemasters - they use reactive resin throughout the whole balls construction, from cover to core... dont know wether this is something positive or negative.

Do you have anything that shows that Columbia is making these companies gear?

I very highly doubt it.

Just my 2c worth

Um yes very confusing stuff, one question if columbia is making all these balls, how come their own range is so crap? Just out of curiosity

And to answer the original post and stay on topic, these brands arent new, they just havent been heavily released in australia, due to no high demmand, i order all my balls from the states, well most anyway, that way i get all the not so mainstream bandwagon gear , and they are awesome

my bad... ebonite + hammer are manufactured in their own plant... dyno-thane has their covers poured by storm

whats confusing? any of these balls can be used to throw a 300, and if they are all capable of perfection, what sets them apart?

but if i were you i would buy an amf ball... that way when you kick sum1's butt, you can tell them "i kicked your ass with an amf ball! you must really suck"

hehe, its not true but there is enough prejudice in australia that almost every1 believes amf balls to be inferior

They weren't always crap. Back in my junior days I used to shoot telephone numbers with a Sumo (and Ninja a year or 2 later).

I agree, they seem to have lost the plot lately though.
