Western Australian Michael Muir has dominated Day 1 of competition at the South Australian Cup in Adelaide South Australia this afternoon.
Muir leads the field by 32 pins after the first day of qualifying, shooting a 229.8 average and 1835 (+235) for his 8 games. In second place is local bowler Colin Hunt (225.38ave, 1803 +203), with Australian Youth FIQ bowler Jarrod Lean in third (222.25ave, 1778 +178).
The cutoff for Matchplay for this event is 16th place and this is currently shared by 3 bowlers. Greg Ball (WA), George Frilingos (QLD) and Ashley Riley making his comeback to tournament bowling all share 16th place on +41 (205.13 ave, 1641)
Before the event started today, AMF Tournament Director Tony Goodwin announced that the dates for the remaining Super Six events will be announced in the coming weeks. AMF have delayed the announcement of the remaining dates on the tour due to the possibility of Australia being announced as the host of the 2003 World Cup. Should Australia be successful in hosting the event, it will more than likely be held at AMF's newest centre, Dee Why, which is located in the Dee Why RSL. This announcement is due in early February, with the Super Six dates confirmed shortly afterwards.
