Moonah Bowl Renovation

Hi all,

Just thought that maybe the Management could of held a Tournament to showcase this centre to the rest of australia as im sure it was one of the few amf centres in Australia early 60's, and im sure support from all tasmanian bowlers would of been up there with the aerly TCBA numbers of around 40 to 50 per tournament......

just my 2cents worth :)

Brus,

The Hobart Cup is hopefully being reborn for next year with Warren Stewart throwing in the $$$$$. He was quite excited about it at rachuig as it will make a good lead-up for the Nationals the may (yet to be confirmed) be held in 2006 or 07 in Hobart.

Hopefully it all comes 2gether.

With the great reno job done on the place. I've heard all manner of rumours as to what is allegedly coming back to Hobart.
I've heard ATBSO want to come to play here very soon, as do the TBA with the Nationals.
It's been a long time between drinks for the Nationals (Juniors: 1990, Adult: 1991) being held here, and with the great job done it will be our best chance to hold it again. I think it will be very handy if we can get them down here, it might bring in new competitors into the sport and rekindle the fire in many who gave it away.

Great to read also of the hopeful rebirth of the Hobart Cup, was a great tournament when it ran from '81 to about '90 I think, attracted a lot of good mainland talent down here. Warren Stewart was one of the last winners of it from memory.

Hobart Cup

As one of the founding members who ran the Hobart Cup for many years, I sincerely hope it gets up and running again. Congratulations to the person/people who achieve this, it was a great tournament and we had some top class bowlers who not only competed in it, but actually won the event.

Good Luck!!!

WITH ALL COMPETITIONS SO FAR ONLY THE SAME BOWLERS SHOW UP WHAT A DISAPOINTMENT WHEN $1000 WAS PUT UP FOR FIRST PLACE ONLY 14 TEAMS OF 4 SHOWED UP. NOT MANY NEW FACES ALL OLD REGULAR FACES. AND TED TELUKI TEAM TOOK IT OUT WHAT A CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR THEM.IT WOULD BE A WASTE OF TIME UNLESS MORE TOOK PART IN THESE EVENTS.WHAT WOULD BE GOOD IS ALL 24 LANES GOING NON STOP FOR THE WHOLE DAY THAT WOULD BE A SHOWCASE. IN THE OFFICIAL OPENING TOURNAMENT NOT EVEN ANY PUBLICITY WAS SOUGHT BY MANAGMENT OF THE CENTRE. SO THE MESSAGE CANT GET OUT THERE OF THE BETTER BOWLING CONDITIONS . AND NOT EVEN AMF HAS DONE ANYTHING TO HELP THE CAUSE. EVEN WHEN IT WAS CLOSING FOR THE UPGRADE .

What drugs are you on?!

To be honest, there was quite a lot of publicity going around about the place, and while the centre was being renovated, AMF sent 2 people down here, recruiting bowlers in shopping centres, doing displays and the such.

Learn some manners too... turn your freakin CAPS LOCK off

win tv and southern cross would have done a story on the renovations but no one made an effort on amf behalf to provide information.so what if shopping centres were approached still some print would have also been effective.I was talking to a news presenter thats why i approached Ian at moonah but nothing was done also the mercury newspaper would have done something but when they approached the moonah bowl they also got no response. I donot take any drugs. why be a critic when the truth comes out. Its not what you know but who you know that gets thing done. when all old lanes were taken it would have been nice to be approached to make something out of one to raise money for the state teams but found out to late. When I donated the blackwood coffee table to raise funds two years ago I didnt even get a thankyou or a letter of thanks back so why try.

like androo said there were ppl at shopping centres for at least a week, handing out free bowling and trying to get ppl to sign up for league.

Some of the amf adds on tv also had messages added to the bottom promoting the new renovations at moonah and encouraging more ppl to join.

So here is a tissue *hands out tissue* and here is some cheese to go with your whine *give cheese*...now how about you get over it?

like all responses so far when is there enough done to publicise the sport for the good why listen to all your negative feedback to the truth the moonah bowl was notified three weeks before renovations started but nothing was done . like with the state fundraising I gave up last year making a blackwood tv cabinet to be raffled off for the lack of support for it by other bowlers. I get critised for speaking out but all I get is this back stabbing. like the momment we are delivering leaflets for the moonah bowl on the eastern shore to advertise the centre but I think I will return the leaflets back to the centre as a response I have received from this site.
