Funky Chicken
I have always been a big believer in not taking yourself too seriously, so I thought I would share a little joke with you at my expense.
I bowl Friday Night doubles at Currajong Super Bowl (Townsville). Now every week about 15-20 of us put in $2 for high game scratch, and there is usually $30-40 in the kitty.
After game 1 high game was 245, before Geoff Ott started game 2 with the first 9 in a row. He then pulled the 10th ball high for the 3,6,10 and finishing with a 275. I thought to myself "Geez, what a crappy way to blow a good game, if I get the same chance I won't do that!!"
Game 3 was uneventful. Then I started game 4 with the first 9 in a row. I am lucky enough to have already shot a 300, but I don't mind admitting that I was quite nervous as it has been 5 years. As I strode boldly towards the ball return, I thought "oh well if I don't get 300 at least I am sure to beat Otty's 275 and get a bit of cash." (Prophetic last words).
I let the 10th ball rip and as soon as it left my hand it was headed for the head pin, not the pocket but flush 1 pin. I left none other than the 7/10.
THANKS VERY MUCH!!! No 300, No Kitty Money, and I needed a spare in the 10th frame to shoot a 1000 for 4, instead shooting 990.
The worst thing about this is that I couldn't blame the lanes, the pins, my ball, the weather, the lunar cycle etc. The blame lay squarely at my feet.
I think I will change my name from Funky Chicken to F@#%ing Choker!!!
Regards
Steve
