New South Wales Michael Little this afternoon won the 2005 Australian Open.
Little was in 11th place after 2 days of qualifying and in 5th place after the field had cut to the top 30 for a further 6 games. But it was in Matchplay that Little shone, finishing with a field best 7-1-2 (W-D-L) Matchplay Record and a 214.4 overall average in beating home Jason Belmonte by 63 pins. Belmonte overtook qualifying leader Jason Walsh (3rd) in the final positional round to finish in 2nd place.
