Left v Right

Hypercell = Hyperhook!
Good to see we aren't the only country arguing about stats and lane conditions, this time the lefties are crying foul!

Thanks to our friends on the PBA site...........

Here's an interesting topic of stats (these are compiled off the players stats):

Top 5 lefty, top 5 righty, last two years on tour, since A-E patterns. Alphabetical order, events, cashes, finals, TV, wins, money.

Allen 40/33/32/5/1 $178,900
Bohn 41/24/20/5/0 $118,249
Couch 40/28/19/6/2 $237.322
Miller 43/32/23/4/1 $129,105
Scroggins 37/27/20/6/1 $135,095

Angelo 39/36/35/5/0 $167,847
Barnes 42/38/31/13/2 $373,630
Mika 40/29/27/8/2 $280,890
Weber 41/33/30/9/3 $340,567
Williams 41/37/34/16/5 $651,400

Left, 201 events, 144 cashes, 121 finals, 26 shows, 5 titles $798,671

Right 203 events, 173 cashes, 157 finals, 51 shows, 12 titles, $1,814,334

Good to be a righty.

It will be interesting to see on the new patterns and slicker oil this year how this list pans out.

Lucky I bowl here :D :D :D

Hi George,
I think i read somewhere (so of course i am taking it as gospel) that the
percentage of left handers in the world is only 9%. It would be interesting to see what percentage of players on the PBA or even here in Australia
are lefties and figure that into the equation.
The more i read this back, the more i think i am just babbling and
not actually adding anything to the arguement, so i will just bugger off now.

That is hardly a fair comparison - after all, there are more rightys than leftys. If the conditions were identical on both sides, you would expect to see around 8 leftys in the top 50. So to expect te top five leftys and top five rightys to be earning the same amountt is ridiculous. As it stands, two of the top 7 are leftys, somewhat more than you would expect statistically.

As I have said before - a good lefty has an advantage, because he has fewer bowlers to beat when the left is favoured. There will always be some tournaments where one side is easier than the other; for better or worse that is just the nature of the game. And I have yet to see a righty complain about equity when the left is shut out.

Until someone comes up with an oil-free lane surface, the right and left will play different over time. Complaining about it doesn't change that, so we might as well accept it and learn to live with it.
