Morwell Tenpins
Hi all, Joe here from Morwell Tenpins, there have been a few rumours flying around that we we will be short oiling for the up coming Latrobe Valley Youth Cup. Sorry not true. As everyone knows this tournament is a ranked tournament and therefore we need to abide by TBAL rules & regulations with regards to oiling patterns.
You will all be pleased to know that we are putting down a pattern that is 33'in length and buffed to 42 feet. At the moment we have aprox 54 units of oil down the centre tapering off to 15 units to the gutters. As you can see that does not sound like we are short oiling.
We at Morwell still use a Lane washer which makes our back ends squeakky clean and that is why some bowlers believe that we short oil. Anyway it is pleasing to see a few interstate entries this year and like all tournaments we can only get better as the years go on. Just remember that if it wasn't for centre like Morwell or Werribee or Ed Fleming the youth bowlers in Victoria would have no tournament to bowl in except Adult tournaments. So instead of knocking everone all the time how about thanking the centres concerned for putting on these tournament because as some of you bowlers may not be aware there is a lot of work behind the scenes to actually get a tournament up and running and for any tourney to be successful you need sponsors and the centres willing to put in aswell as having the bowlers support your event.
In finishing I would be pleased to hear from anyone on how we can make this tournament bigger and better. It is not very often that a Regional area like Latrobe valley can host a National ranked event. This gives our local youth and juniors a chance to pit themselves against some of the best bowlers in the country and hopefully want to go in other events which can only benefit youth & junior bowling in the long term.
See you all at Morwell Tenpins on the Australia Day Long weekend.
For those not coming good luck in SA.
