Kegels

I stepped into Dandenong bowl last night and, lo and behold, here's a Kegel still in it's box sitting on the floor. After I picked myself up I asked the counter staff 'what's going on'?? It looks like Macquarie might have wanted to spend some money before the end of financial year as they said 11 were delivered to centres all over Melbourne, along with a full set of brand new pins (Dandenong at least). I never thought Dandenong would get anything as it isn't a tournament centre (too small with 24 lanes). Now all we have to wait and see is that the back end guys can use it!!

AMF is raising the bar and should be applauded for what they have been doing and will be doing since the take over.

Yes Forest Hill got there kegel yesterday and hopefully will be up and running by the weekend and think most of the AMF centre's are getting them but there only Cross Fire's and i think Phoenix.

I know one centre down there who didnt BUY one...

However, seeing as though you dont think Dandenong is too small for tournaments, why not let me take that lovely new Kegel off your hands. I promise to replace it with our cruddy Summit.

Yeah Chris. Our Regional Manager Lloyd Klaman did promise we will get one.
Good on ya Lloyd & AMF

Kegel's are only as good as the program put into them so lets all hope they have better training than they had with the last "state of the art" equipment they got .

have to admit was shocked to see it last night at dandy. even funnier to watch the tech's scratch there heads once or twice as they tried to use. I think i saw it run up and down the same lane a few times during the oil.....

also saw it stop at the arrows on the way back, and yet another puzzled look appeared...

im sure once the machines have been used for a couple of weeks, the patterns they lay will be become a lot more consistent, the they are over the first few days of use.

I'm a little surprised at some peoples responses to Dandy's newest piece of equipment.

as with anything it will take time to settle in and for mechanics to get used to the equipment. of course they're going to be puzzled as new problems arize. thats all part of the learning process. But instead of everyone getting on your high horse from the word go how about giving some credit where credits due. Ever bought a new car and new exactly where all the crazy new buttons are. ever upgraded to the latest operating system ie Vista and not get puzzled. its common and will happen people.

Well done Dandenong and AMF for providing us with this technology. I'm sure its in safe hands and commend you all on your efforts. some people just need to remember where they come from.

This was never expected in a million years so I say just be grateful.

Scores around my end of the house last night were pretty good too from a wide range of styles so even on its maiden voyage the Kegel in my eyes is on a good succesful path.

hmmmm, wonder where the old machines are going? Our century 100 could sure use some company down here........

I threw a few balls down at chaddy this affternoon after it was all setup and by jesus wot a difference it makes. Gus and Greg did a wonerful job explaining everything and condition that was put in the machine is sensational.

Buzz mate,

hope you didnt think l was having a go at dandy in anyway. Its great they have the Kegal.

I heard plenty of people complain about the condition. As i said it will take time for it to bed in, and im sure it will be great. At my end of the house, there plenty of scores at both end of the spectrum, throughout the night.

good on AMF/Macquire for spending the money, on all centres, afterall, l never would have expected them to spend money on Dandy.

Still waiting for one at any of the centres down here.

And I wouldnt hold your breath while you wait Droo.

I heard we were getting another summit!! Yippee

I will put it with the rest of the 2nd hand stuff we are getting when the all the other centres get re-furb'ed.

Nah mate we're sweet.

there was a couple of posts that got up my nose but what made me sick
were some peoples remarks on Thursday night. its not often we get something this good and too hear so many negatives from people before even letting it settle in was just pathetic. Yes we have a new bit of equipment but that doesn't give anyone the right to have cracks at the mechanics and their ability to use it at such an early stage.

Every week I hear the same people crack the ****s with the mechanics and or the lanes and half of them don't even know how to read a lane. Then there's some who have half a clue but don't realise the mechanics only work with what they got. Now they have a new beaut bit of machinery and the same people lay down the law and say "THEY BETTER KNOW HOW TO USE IT RIGHT AWAY OR I'M NOT GOING OT BE HAPPY" Gees who crowned these people to demand such high quality. If you're not happy - leave. better yet if they can do a better job? do something about it and ask for a job and do just that. but I bet they find something wrong with doing just that too.

Just like you said Lance its going to take some time to bed in and mechanics to get used to it and learn the technology. Its to be expected and I re-stated exactly that in my post and agree with you 100% its just some Morons don't appreciate this and bugs the crap out of me when they make stupid comments they dare not say to their faces.

Some things are just never appreciated I suppose.

Frankston christened their Kegel Friday night. They are also upgrading the ball returns etc so they can handle more oil.
I anticipate Frankston being transformed from a dry house to a scoreable condition in the next weeks.
I also endorse Buzzer's comments. The Tech's will take time to be familiar with the Kegel and all the tricks it can no doubt pull.
A Kegel has been in use at Moorabbin for all of 2007 and it is good to bowl on a stable pattern. It will not change the face of bowling in the other centres but it will improve the playing field.

I just had an idea.
Seeing as though centres throughout Melbourne are getting new Kegels, why not get one for Sunshine so we can have our old one back...

kegals ares only good if u put oil in them

i bowled in an amf centre recently that had Hpls and no oil in the heads
deadset whats the point. Lets all have freehook and keep australia in the darkages of our sport.

The condition on Thursday night was okay, but you could see some people struggling with the new conditions, not that there was anything wrong with it at all. I myself shot a 600+ for the first time in a couple of months which made me happy! We all know it will take a month or two for the mechanics to figure out how to use the Kegel, and the best thing for them is to hear feedback (not whingeing) about how the lanes are. I cannot say what is right or wrong with conditions - I am not good enough for that, but I can say what my ball is and isn't doing. The fact is that on Thursday night I did not need to adjust a single board, so the condition held up all night (for me at least). This is something I am not used to at Dandy!!

Of course, thank you to AMF for spending the money on quality equipment to make bowling a more pleasurable experience, where in the past money was more spent on the looks that made little difference to bowlers. I will, though, hold any opinion on the mechanics aptitude until a further date!
