just curious

this is about the tech occupation

what does it involve what do you need to know

any help would be great as i'm looking for a weekend job and my local lanes said they might be able to help

Here's a start, going from some of the great techs I've met over the years...

  1. An innate genius for mechanics.
  2. A love of the chemistry that makes bowling lanes and approaches playable.
  3. A desire to have your machinery running like a Swiss watch.
  4. A good ear for hearing faults that have happened, or ar about to happen, lanes away.
  5. A love of cleanliness and keeping your lanes and backend like a high-end auto transmission workshop in order to keep you and your customers clean.
  6. A budgeting skill to make your meagre funds stretch to get the job done.
  7. An uncanny ability to hold the place together with chicken wire and chewing gum when the funds run out.
Basically everything about everything in making a bowl run. It also helps to have the resilience and patience to smile and walk away when some idiot tells you that you know nothing!

p.s. Be nice to your techs, folks. Their job can be pretty hard!

The joke spot is up a couple!
We had one of the bowlers showing the mechanic how to use his Kegel the other night.
Have you forgotten we are in 2009. No gives a flying!

I used to be a tech a looooong time ago. You certainly need to be on the alert and everything is maintenance, maintenance....and maintenance.
