If there were both a boys and girls section here would be my selections:-

I'm not sure what planet you live on but the junior/youth bowler of the year has to go to

Male: Belmo / Jez (tie)
Female: Jade Flanagan

I can't see how the other people can come close based on the their tournament results in the year 2001 which is how the award should be picked.

For starters what does a person need to achieve to gain the bowler of the year award?? It could be looked at in different ways and i think thats how people are looking at it. It could go on what the person has achieved during the year, or it could go on how much a person has improved over the last year from tournament to tournament.

Well i would have to say Jayde Flanagan definately takes out the female division based on everything she has bowled this year. (youth fiq, and schools team are just two of them!!!)
The guys i would say is a lot closer. I agree with Belmo taking it out (jarrod is no longer a junior!) but i would say Chris Slattery would have to come extremely close. He achieved alot last year and i think will continue to do so this year (im not biased or anything). He has definately improved alot this year and Pat Egan is another one who has also done this. Definately two up and coming juniors

I would of thought the bowler of the year would be decided by the TBA rankings?

The most consistant bowler, and the one that attends the most events, is going to be the one that ends up on top.

Considering the structure of the TBA points however, a junior bowler is mixed with the youth bowlers of Australia. Therefore, I would suggest that the top placed junior in the youth rankings should be the person deemed as the JUNIOR of the year.

I dont know the ages for everyone, but looking at the rankings:

Male - Scott Andrews
Female - Michelle Halprin (or Leisa Lumsden if Michelle wasnt a junior this year)

Just remember, when you say junior you mean under 18, if you mean youth, thats a different story.

For the youth, the male went to Jason Belmonte by far, with making almost every AMF Super 6 cut, but im not sure what he did on the youth tournament levels. The female no doubtedly to Nat Shelley, with her runner-up in both SPC and the S.A. Under 23's, as well as numerous other placings in events around the country last year.

are talking about the period jan 2001 to dec 2001 ?
if so Jason Belmonte was still classed as a Junior Bowler, therefore my vote.
Naturally Jarod Lean for Youth.Not sure on the Girls!!

Oh MY god people
the JNR bowler of the year is for the BEST JNR we have

SAYING slatery or anyone else for that matter under the age of 18 is better than BELMO is saying " that a datson 180b is better than a NEW BMW"
no offence to chris he is improving fast but u can not compare anyone to jason!
With his record at ADULT level and FIQ medal silver in doubles and 6th in all events and 12th in masters and his amazing JNR and youth records at home surly make him the best we have seen all year!

Hey all

Once again you all know my answer

BELMO by a long way not only wa he the best junior of the year but he was the best Youth followed closly by Mick Little.
Belmo killed all the super six and this is against the adults.

For the Girls has to be Jayde as well she was the only junior to represent Australia at FIQ in both schools and Youth.

I would have to say that Matthew O'Brien from Victoria gets my number 1 junior in Australia. Not only is he a great bowler but he presents himself so well being a credit to the sport. He finished 19th in A.O, 3rd in junior sydney cup, All-Star president shield, 27th Melbourne cup, & bowled a 300 in the Australian Masters (jnr).

Well i personally think that Matthew Sofia (if he still junior) has got to be the best. He bowls so well and is a pleausre to watch. i have bowled with him many times, and as i know him personlly, he is goin to go a long way in the bowling field.

Az for more juniour ppl, Chris Slattery kills it. Also knowing him personally is a great privelage. HE is goin to be the next Wordls nomber one.

Being from the west, i dont get much of a chance to see a lot of our elite juniors bowl. But from what i have seen and head i would have to put Jason Belmonte, Matt O'Brien and Scott Andrews up for the guys. For the girls, it would have to be between Jayde and Leisa, or though, there are a lot of girls that will give them a run for their money in years to come.

IM going with Jez about belmo. I havent yet experenced seeing him bowl in real life but when i seen him bowl on a televised skins tornie i was amazed by his style and how successful he has been. As for the girls i would have to say Jayde. Dont think i have heard of other girls in australia achieveing what she has as a junior.

Even though the other juniors mentioned have achieved goals and also that they are the person posting's opinion.
You have to be realistic and say the two I have mentioned along with a few other posts above are the Best Junior for 2001 Male & Female.
No Junior has achieved what Belmo & Jayde have the the last calendar year.

i agree with george, the top junior is belmo. belmo is a step ahead of all the junior bowlers. but if your looking 4 others then scotti, brendan heathwood, chris slattery, glen loader and matty o'brian would b my top rankings.
in the girls im not really sure but it would prolly b jayde.

i was just thinkin and i think Lindsay Kilpatrick is another very good bowler and would be up there as well.
As for sum more girls Jayde Flanagen and her lil sis Bianca.
