News from Chicago overnight confirmed Australia’s Jason Belmonte as one of three bowling champions selected by the PBA to participate in a special made-for-television event next week. Coverage of the match will begin with a pre-game show at 8.30am AEST Thursday, 13 April.
After an eight-year hiatus, the Professional Bowlers Association is reviving its King of Bowling special event as part of a new Xtra Frame Pay Per View series, with reigning “king” Wes Malott from Texas defending his throne during the PBA’s return to Bayside Bowl in Portland, Maine.
The three-game total pinfall winner-take-all match will be the first event in the Xtra Frame series, pitting Malott against two of the PBA’s hottest players - 2016 PBA Player of the Year EJ Tackett of Huntington, Indiana, and the Australian superstar. Jason Belmonte’s recent victory in the USBC Masters marked a record-breaking milestone for the 33 year-old, re-writing the record books as the first player ever to win the USBC Masters on four occasions. The three-time PBA Player of the Year has now notched up eight Majors, and 14 PBA Tour titles overall.
Proceeds from each special pay per view event will determine the prize money paid to the King of Bowling winner. The one-time US $2.99 special event fee will apply to all viewers, including current Xtra Frame subscribers. To sign up for any of the special online video streaming events, visit: www.xtraframe.tv/#!liveevent?EV_pid=3574.
The King of Bowling series will continue throughout the season and see the winner defending his crown in an upcoming PBA Xtra Frame King of Bowling Pay Per View event, with details to be announced shortly.
