Is the Hobart Cup getting the go ahead?

GeorgeF

Hypercell = Hyperhook!
I know its down on the calendar but there isn't an entry form in sight and we are 9 weeks away from the event. Interstaters need some sort of notice, I don't want to book something and have the event canned.

Bert?

Hey Geo,

Have a look at Patrick Birtigs reply in the Main Form

http://www.totalbowling.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=11832

He is committed to get this off the ground and make it a success but it is coming down to sponsorship. When Wazza was at the helm of the Vic Region for AMF he was going to throw in the Dollars from his budget. Now that he is no longer around, this aint the case any more (what a surprise!!) and it is now up to the centre to find the funds. The centre is working extremely hard to try and secure some sponsorship for the event and make it a goer.

So all I can say is sit tight or email PB to see what the go is.

Hope to catch up soon (hopefully @ Hobart Cup LOL)

Gus

P.s. Is it safe to say that ur not selling paint anymore??

P.p.s How about some Track/Columbia balls for your ol' mate?? ;-)

No mate, I'm still selling paint (to some selected customers :D). I've never been to tassie, thought it would be cool (literally).

There's another event on in ram rooter land, I might go there instead

Looking forward to hearing back,

G

Great News for the Hobart Cup

Since Posting my reply to George, I have had a conversation with the Regional Manager that this event will be going ahead as scheduled and will be a Ranked Event.

Great to see its going ahead, just curious did they find a sponsor or?...
(unless im confusing this with some other tournament that may not have been going ahead due to lack of sponsorship...not sure)

Hi everyone, It's official that the Hobart Cup will be going ahead as scheduled.

At this stage we are still finalising sponsors for the event, but have confidence that it will be fine for August.

I have on my website an online booking system that will make it easy for anyone to enter the tournament, just go to http://www.bowlersworld.com.au and hopefully by the weekend there will be a link to the online booking form, we are just finalising the contents.

You will need to put in all the required fields, and all we need is confirmation or a deposit that you will be there. This is an instant booking system that is a first for this country, so hopefully it will work well!!!

Otherwise you can email me from the site directly and I will place you in the squad, this tournament is based on 72 entries, we will try and accomodate all interstate entries into B squad if needed, we can increase the numbers by adding an extra squad if needed or extend B squad.

It is my intension to paydown as far as possible, so we end up with at least a 1 in 3 ratio, but at this stage we are paying the top 14, plus cash incentives for ladies that make the trip. There is a consolation skins of 5 games on Sunday for everyone that missed the cut, each skin will be 1st $100.00, 2nd $50.00, and 3rd $25.00.

I have mentioned before that this is a double ranking points tournament, this is not correct, it is only single rankings, I made a typo!!!

There are plenty of cheap flights available if you look around, and there is lots of accomodation within a short drive to the bowl.

Again if you have any questions feel free to email me patrick@bowlersworld.com.au

Regards,
Patrick Birtig

There is a thread in the National Tournaments section as well.

Thanks Hayden for keeping bowlers informed.

Patrick Birtig

Martin Cash is good for cheap accomodation. Phone number is 03 6272 5044.

Carlyle Hotel has the best rump steak you will ever get your teeth into, only $20.00 for a 400 gram one too..............

kace ....
im not sure you would have been accused of that to often?? being on the ball that is :p :p :p

You are correct there Scott! LOL.

However, my Queechy education obviously served me better than yours did. It would be "too often" not "to often".

Gotcha back :p LOL

The Hobart Cup Squads have changed to accept more interstate bowlers.

The first squad didn't get any response so we cancelled it, the former B Squad is now A Squad, check-in is at 11.30, bowl at 12.00pm, and the former A squad is now B Squad check-in at 3.30pm, bowl at 4.00pm.

All the bowlers that were already in B squad are now in A squad, so we are now trying to fill the last squad on Saturday.

I know it sounds confusing, but simply put we moved the first squad to Saturday afternoon, and left the other almost as it was, the only thing we changed was moved it back 30 minutes.

Any questions please email me bworld@optusnet.com.au

Regards,
Patrick Birtig
