hey wayne caboolture is easy mate just check out the scores from the womens tournaments held there on the week end ,and then look at the results from other tournaments held around australia. we are following what the people in the usa went through 10 years ago when numbers started falling, and we are going to make the same mistakes they made .and look at what they are doing now setting sport conditions and numbers are slowly increasing because the bowlers want a challenge and feel they have achieved something when they ave 200 on these tough conditions.

come on tournament bowlers show some back bone ask for these sport conditions and stop the carry contests.

Yep Caboolture is easy, but it was lovely to bowl in QLD and not have to hurl the ball down the lane.
I'm sure if you asked Sue Cassell or most of the other bowlers how easy lanes one and two are you would not get a nice response and I'm sure that others bowled low games on other pairs. I know I did.
Spectators also commented on how much of a nice change it was to see bowlers smiling.
I know I would rather watch people bowl good.
One things for sure, people will spend money next year to travel to Caboolture and bowl because they enjoyed themselves.
I'm not saying that all tournament should be that easy. But it was so good to bowl on a nice condition for a change.
As for the Pro tour not setting up good conditions. I bowled in the womens US Open last year and believe me it was a carry fest.
I was also told that the condition that we bowles on was harder than most others.

Congratulations to Mary. I don't know how she bowled so well. I bowled with her and all she was worried about was the score sheets and if we would finish on time.

And congratulations to you Amanda for showing the world that you can be a fantastic mum and a great bowler as well.
See you guys at Bankstown
Wayne

Yes well done Amanda!!!!!!!!!
And I think it is good to see great scores. I am wondering where bfcc gets his information from???I just saw one of the latest tapes from the usa and if they are changing then I supose 258.6 winning average is a tough condition to bowl on.And by the way they were on a sport condition and it was a HUGE carry contest.

Zoneman I must have missed something. I've read most of bfcc's postings and I can't for the life of me recall him ever putting **** on the sport. Possibly you could enlighten me, failing which you might care to withdraw your comments.
Andrew Shinnie.

I have emailed ZONEMAN to explain what he is doing .. even though he has hidden his email address from everyone - he cannot hide from me

I know who he is .. and he now knows that I know who he is.

BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING

Please ensure everyone reads the Welcome post in the General Forum - it details some rules to abide by whilst using the forum.

To Zoneman Whoever you are?

Obviously You have not bowled in any tournaments at caboolture in the recent past!
!!!!!
Now Bfcc doesn't need any defending for what he is saying because it is the truth. If you had taken the time to read any posts/comments made by bfcc you would realise this. Now before people start seeing only negatives in this post, take a really good look at the current tournament scene. Most tournaments at the present averaging 220 will not even garuantee making the cut.Now to finish off congratulations to kelly warren for winning last w/end and no ladies i am not bagging you but the scores(Yes it was quality field)but to have nearly the entire field of bowlers over a 200 average come on stop kidding yourselves.Bring the scores back to a realistic level and tournament numbers may stay consistent for a change or heaven forbid increase.Once again Congrats to Kelly for winning and to Mary Flower for putting together Such a quality field and another well run tournament
Till next time

Another few things Zoneman

1/yes the sport conditions do allow scoring but will punish a poor shot not reward it.
2/Most of the bowlers on the telecasts have had the last for tournaments to bowl on sports conditions plus any other practice they have had.
3/They are professionals! So yes they will bowl lots of big games no matter the condition.

Sorry Graham if i have broken any rules but this twit deserves it.
Till next time

I think changing conditions to intentionally lower scores will just crap more people off. These days Balls rev and hit harder, oil holds up better,(meaning the 'shot' stays longer and players can stay in their comfort zone instead of moving every game or 2)more centres have better lane surfaces(synthetic and better maintained urethane surfaces due to better maintenence procedures) Put all these together and this results in scores going up. Funny thing is any cut thats 'under' the card these days is considered low. Ten or twelve years ago if a cut was about 10, maybe 20 under(lets say for 10 games cutting to top 16)this was considered pretty good scoring. Of course there was a big bunch of players back then in every state that finished between 185-195av in almost every event they bowled, making 70-80+ bowlers at almost every event.(and in NSW and VIC some 100+ fields in events that were only $1000-$1500 for first)Now if we can get some of those bowlers back into tournaments things will start looking better and belonging to associations like the ATBA will mean something again. Now lets say that next year 40 or 50 bowlers that have been 'off the scence' for a few years bowled 2 or 3 events each and 10 or 15 'first timers' did the same. A lot of events would have another 10 or so entries just like that(e.g The AO with 125 up from 112, Canberra with 105 up from 90, Melb cup 135 up from 120, Warnambool cup 65 up from 55 or so that will probably turn up this year, SA cup 105 up from 91) Now wouldn't that look good compared too the last couple of years, the next job is getting the bowlers back.

lol at adrians reply to being able to stay in the comfort zone, find a queenslander who throws over 10 revs and ask him how many centres can they bowl in with maybe one ball in their comfort zone, not alone 2 games.

maybe 2-4 centres in the state!!!

the last time i was able to play in my so called "comfort zone", i didn't have grey hairs.

and lol in regards to anyone bagging the sport condition, you obviously have no talent and fear having to admit you really aren't a "PAR BOWLER"

Grey hairs! I keep forgetting that not everyone looks like they did in their picture in Pin Action in 1986. I've got to admit to not being a user of these particle surface 'vaccum cleaners' either so i dont find conditioner breakdown in the heads to be a problem very often, when i start on oil i usually finish on it too. I guess it depends on where you bowl, what you throw and how there done.

Hey Adrian

Are you talking about this one ?

I wonder how many people are going to look back at the pictures and videos from the live events and have a laugh in 15 years time ???

Hey Graham,

I didn't realise you had such a nasty, cruel streak in you.
icon_smile.gif

I might have started something here! any more scary photos floating around? Might have to think again about my comfort zone theory after this mornings effort(152-259-157-188)

Get your hand off it zoneboy. I'll back Big Fat on this subject any time. The joke conditions that are put down in more and more centres these days are killing the sport that I love. Everyone keeps telling me that bowlers love the high scores that they get on these conditions and will keep coming back for more. What a load of rubbish.

Keep puting down the ditches and the sport will die. Make it credible and it may stand a chance. The only problem with this is that a lot of bowlers out there will have to learn to bowl for real. Now that would be a thing to see.

well it looks like there are a few people that agree with me????(thanks guys)and now onto this fool zoneman it would easy to pick you to bits but i won't but i will answer your question that graham deleted,NO i do not bowl tournaments at this stage and will not bowl tournaments untill the scores come back to reality.if the cuts come down to 200-205 to make the cut then i would bowl but while you need 220 ave to make a cut i wont donate any money!! so there it is i am a fringe tournament bowler the kind that in the 80's would show up and have ago because the cuts were around the 200 mark, and to all the young guys out there back in the 80's it was common to get 100+ bowlers to the local tournament .nowadays it seems that if u get 40+ to a tournament u have done well , the guys who are missing are guys like me that would show up because we can ave 185-195 in league and thought we were a chance of making a cut. nowadays with 220 ave to cut we are too far away and now that we are not a chance.

call us what u want gumbys, donators whatever u like but remember while we are not showing the numbers will stay down at local tournaments and they will die!!then the so called tournament bowlers will end up with 6-8 majors each year and that will be it!!

now you can all understand why i was so dissappointed with getting not one invite into georges calendar
icon_cool.gif

adrian, i still come home to vic now and then, so always beware
icon_biggrin.gif

and see, i told you so, holding the shot, and staying in the comfort zone died out years ago, along with the whites you had to don at south pacific
