How many leagues do you bowl a week?

GeorgeF

Hypercell = Hyperhook!
Just interested to know how many leagues you juniors bowl every week. If you bowl more than 2 can you perhaps give a small explaination why, namely the benefits/non benefits.

If league was cheaper would you bowl more?
For the record, I bowl 1.

hay
i bowl 2 leauges atm plus training. i bowl leauge simply because i like bowling.

i would probly still bowl 2 if it was cheaper i would just pratice more i think. it costs me more 2 pratice than bowl leauge. would be nice if some centers gave up free pratice or somthing?? 4 like a min time of 2 hrs & u hav 2 bowl at lest one game or somthing so thay wont lose 2 much money?? i mean the centers are neva gonna lose out cause of social play!

George

I bowl two leagues a week. I used to bowl about four a week but I dont really see the point in bowling that many leagues. I would rather save my money so that I can bowl more tournaments and gain more experience in a more competitive environment.

Even if leagues were cheaper I think I would still bowl two leagues.

I currently bowl three leagues a week. On a Monday night I bowl 5 games worth of frames (no scorers) practice with my coach (which are free), a handicap teams league & a scratch singles league. This gives me a total of 11 games. I feel this give me practice on bowling more games in a row, & also it gives me a bit of insight into how the lanes breakdown. But on the other hand, the scratch league does suffer on some nights if I get tired.
I bowl one game practice on a Wednesday in school sport so as I can practice on really, really dry lanes. I then have another 3 games on a Wednesday arvo, cause they're free & it's a really easy condition which is kind of like recovery from school sport.
Then on Friday, I bowl a handicap singles junior league. I bowl this one cause there's very heavy carrydown & it's a really different condition to the others. I also bowl this one because it gives me the free practice on a Wednesday.

So, over the week I bowl 18 games, 9 games league & 9 games practice.

Hey George,

well i only bowl 2 leagues!

on a friday nite (4 man teams) and i use this as my non serious league well yeah i'm always serious but if i bowl **** i don't stress about it as much i like to have at least once a week where i don't have to concentrate as much and still enjoy my bowling as much as i can.

I then have a (handicap Under 21 peterson league) on a saturday morning and i love it as i put all my weeks worth of trainin into it and well atm i'm showing the guys how to bowl
icon_smile.gif
I'm taking nearly everything off da guys atm. It's a challenge 4 us girls in the league are up against the guys and with the handicap but well i'm showin them who's boss this season
icon_smile.gif

I then have my personal trainin on a tuesday nite with my coach Val. It's only a short trainin session bout 1 1/2 hrs. Some of the people at the bowl think we don't take my trainin seriously tho as we can have a laugh and we pay out some of my shots but are then serious when we have to go back and correct them. We are serious about my bowlin but u need to be able to laugh at it as well!

Then before shield i usually have State Trainin nearly every weekend or second weekend and that usually bout 4hrs or so on the lanes saturday or sunday but it depends.

I don't think i would bowl anymore during the week if it was cheaper yeah it would be GREAT but i just don't have the time and i live in the bowling centre now as it is as i'm always up there most nites of the week.

Hope it wasn't too boring for ya but u wanted to know so i thought i would let ya know

Still wish i could bowl SPC so i'll see ya whenever

The reason why I ask is that I spoke to several youth bowlers in the states who bowled only 1 league per week, however, had a detailed training program which was 3 times a week (some everyday). Bowlers found that league offered them a social aspect of bowling with some light hearted fun. It was also compulsorary to bowl at least 1 league over there.

There training program was detailed, some days bowling deep angles, some days bowling 2 board, somedays release changes. It also included a little bit of theory on drillings and balls. I was very impressed with the skill level of these juniors, able to bowl anywhere on the lane. The Asian teams are the same, they bowl everyday though!

I guess the reason for the post to tell you that I beleive a structured training program is essential for improvement. Having a coach is also essential.

I've seen the juniors and youth bowlers coming through the ranks in Australia and you can bet that in every National final there is at least 2. The future is bright, just keep with and don't lose focus grasshoppers.

yes george that is perfectly true wot u have said.
when i bowl league tho, i practise all of those different shots. and i can bowl anywhere on the lane 2. the only problem i have is i am 2 far from either lismore or ballina 2 go and practise everyday or else i would. if only there was a centre in goonellabah.. lol!
anyway mayb bowling in aus should be treated like the asians treat it? (have scholars and stuff?) just a thought and i know even if it was taken seriously the funds are not in place to make it happen, well soon anyway.
thats just my opinion.
bye
