Game Prices

I'm still standin'
It is interesting to note the debate that occurs from time to time with regard to the varying pricing of games between centres, especially AMF, and the private consortiums. Factors such as GST, inflation, public demand etc all play their role in determining how much a centre will charge us.

Last night during the sponsors league at Caboolture, one of the bowlers found a centre practise rate card which he'd had buried in the depths of his wallet......the card was for 1996, and the league practise rate for 5 or more games was $2.70 per game. The amazing thing here is that at Caboolture the rate is now $3 per game for 5 or more games.......a thirty cent increase over 7 years :D  :D ....

Just goes to show that regardless of the cost increases to themselves, not all proprietors are out to discourage us from practising, and charging inflated prices for the privilege of having us on their lanes.

Well done Batesy!!!!

Good point Jagga

Some bowling centres forget the benefits of offering cheap or free practise games. When George Selia in late 90's offered 3 free practise games for every league bowler who bowled people laughed and said he was crazy. The league bowlers took advantage of it and surprise surprise they got better and then started to bowl more leagues. Not to mention the drink or snack they would purchase whilst they were at the centre. It was a clear win for everyone and hence why only 2 years in the game George Selia received the International Proprietor of the Year award.

It also makes sense that charging cheap rates is better than havng no one bowl at all. All centres have to do and put small restrictions on time of practise eg. Don't offer cheap or free games on Saturday night. Sunday mornings or most afternoon's between 2pm-5pm would be ideal, times when most centres are quiet.

It is a pleasure to bowl at Caboolture and I appreciate that Brian looks after his bowlers accordingly.
