Now if I ain't eating my words now, (in reference to previous post on FIQ selection)
QBert, I have resigned from the team because I felt that my mind would not be 100% on the job.
I have a sponsor who has in the past and again will be paying for me to play in Vegas at the High Roller and Mini Eliminator events, and these persons do not come along all the time. To be brutally honest you don't get many chances like these at 38 years of age so because of the clash of dates I went with the mega buck events. It probably was the toughest decision I have made in bowling, this is a great mens team and I wanted nothing more than to win a medal or two with the guys. I hope that I have another opportunity to wear the green and gold.
My apologies to Anthony and Paul to whom I have not spoken to, Ronald will be taking his place in the team and Mike Muir has been nominated captain. My best wishes for the team, I know that they will do us proud.

The fact of the matter is that the only reason they put Ronald in as a reserve instead of other deserving bowlers is that he is part of the NTIS (Nothern Territory Institue of Sport)for which bowling recieves numerous grants every year for several bowlers.
Having one of there bowlers make a National team (reserve or not) not only enables more grants but secures more grants for the upcoming years. Whats worse now is that he is now in the team when it is clearly obvious that other deserving bowlers should be there instead. Whats wrong with Little, Sadler, Frilingos, Walsh????
This is politics at it's worse and I have no doubts that this is one of the weakest mens teams we have ever sent overseas. I also feel that the NSW mens side is better than the Australian team hands down.

Mick Little and Jason Walsh were not eligable to be selected in the senior FIQ team as they were part of the youth squad not the senior one as for Ronald being named as first reserve over the likes of George and Scott and Matt Francis that is something that the selectors decided. Now that ronald has been given a chance it is up to him to put the runs on the board and I am sure the rest of the team will back him 100%. I personally was looking forward to bowling with Andrew but I guess I will have to wait till nationals now

QBERT, when I walked into the room where the selectors were in melbourne I did not see you there, but I am more than happy that you have a handle on all the going's on about selections, I will have to remind myself to ask you first when I need to know something.

You wonder sometimes whether its progress,or the sign of the times,but this issue is a hot potato..in all sport.
Whats glaringly obvious is that FIQ,and Rachuiq for that matter,is played at an amateur level..ie no money.
If theres no money,the only offset is "recognition"...acclaim..publicity...at least a good Resume.
You can view this topic,morally,or clinically..and the result will still split 50-50.
Bowlers at the top have to make hard decisions at various times..this is one of them.
No matter how you twist and turn things,fortunetly or unfortunetly,the bottom line will always get down to the grass roots of..."Whats in it for me".
The solution is also glaringly obvious..inject money into the sport...ie sponsors.Do we have a National sponsor...No,...who,s responsibility is that.
Do we have State sponsors...No..who,s responsibility is that.
Now stick morality with clinical,if your sport(nationally) and associations (stateside) cant/wont/dont know how. do anything..you end up with a 50-50 brigade..the experienced ones who have spent thousands out of their pocket,or those on the starting grid who are willing to part with thousands...

QBert based on your accusations on Ronald being named as a reserve because he is part of the NTIS why then did Scott Saddler not get second reserve or Andrew McArthur then they would have 2 NTIS members in the team or even better Pick Ronald over paul and name Scott and Andrew as reserves there is more money still. It is obvious you have a bug up your ass about something so why not tell us. Deal with it and then get on with life cause whether you like it or not Ronald is in the team and nothing is going to change that now.

I'm also pretty sure that you knew well in advance about the High Roller and you should have done the right thing and made yourself unable for selection.
How about we get rid of the selectors and go on some sensible rankings program, this is getting beyond a joke.

Just a question, can someone explain to me why Ronald would be selected as a first reserve over Mac Stewart?
Mac has come a long way over the last few years, and made solid performances last year, and this year already. Ive seen this guy bowl on sahara deserts, and swimming pools, and he seems to be able to handle both.
I think Ronald may have justified his spot as a reserve, but as a first reserve? I surely would of thought Mac would of been put as first reserve in front of Ronald.

I think Frawls has every right to change his mind .. sure he may have known the high roller was on but he may have only finalised the deal to get there and had to make a decision. His decision to go with the Hi Roller is one that he had to make and he will live by that decision.

I think Frawls has every right to change his mind .. sure he may have known the high roller was on but he may have only finalised the deal to get there and had to make a decision. His decision to go with the Hi Roller is one that he had to make and he will live by that decision.
Would have been a tough decision to have had to make, and i'm sure theres thousands out there, myself included, that would dream of being in that situation to have to make such a decision.
I mean literally thousands bowl every week that would love to have or would some time be able to Don the Green n Gold.
In the same breathe wouldnt be too many from the above group that wouldnt love to participate in the Richest event on the World Bowling Calender, with the fruitful addidtion of being fully sponsored. WOW
to be honest Frawls i dont even think age is a factor. I think the majority would surely pick going stateside than Hong Kong.
Theres no feeling like representing your Country and he still will be doing that with the addition, repping one of the Worlds biggest Ball companies whilst participating in an Event of a Life time

i don't understand how u can critise frawls for going over to the states it is every bowlers dream to do that and if u have a sponosor that is willing to help u in doing u then u would have to be crazy to give that up.
i know that representing your country is a big deal and a great honour but frawls can do that every year that he wishes really he is the best this country has and that is that.
i am pretty sure most ppl would agree with me in saying that they totally understand frawls choice and i think he has made the right one. Good luck over there buddy hope u come back with some serious cash
