Entries for SA Cup

GeorgeF

Hypercell = Hyperhook!
With so many events on this year at the same time, will the mighty stable SA cup event get the necessary numbers to go ahead. I hope so but you never know..............

sa cup

Well George theres a few from the West heading over so heres hoping it goes ahead (I'm sure it will). Even the Ballmiester is pulling the boots back on for my first tournament outside of WA in 5 years. I was looking forward to seeing Belmo play but alas he will be in the US for the High Roller so I might have to head over later in the year to see him, but lets wait and see how Adelaide goes first. Should be interesting. Baron :)

Considering the three form right handed players, (Walsh, Belmo and Little) aren't going because they will be in the US, I think the tourney is wide open.
Throw in Brenton Davy as well as he is also playing the US open and the chances of getting a run in the final look better all the time.

I really don't think that the other events that are on the same Long weekend are going to hurt the entries. I mean how many guys Nth of Brisbane have ever played in SA that weekend in the past. Whilst there is a youth event on in Victoria, there really weren't many youth bowlers in the SA cup last year. I doubt if to many SA youth are going to travel to the Latrobe valley for a tourney when there is one at their backdoor.

Based on previous form, there are probably a few extra spots in the final (not to mention on the podium) because these guys are away.
Hopefully this is decent enough incentive if you have been considering going to the SA Cup.

This event is so wide open that even you George must be feeling a little more confident about your chances.......

Well there was entry forms at noarlunga about a week and a half before they were suppose to be sent out by AMF which I do believe was Friday 13th December.

Before the 13th December I put my name on the AMF mailing list (9/12/02), therefore I had obtained 2 copies of the entry form. One sent to me and One from Noarlunga Superbowl. I had picked up a copy of the form before I had even decided putting myself on the mailing list.

Further to this I travelled up to Woodville bowl on the 15th December to put in the entry form and the first thing they wanted to know is where I got the entry form. I think it's amazing how if all of these entry forms were sent out at the same time then why didn't Woodville Bowl know anything about them. What I mean by this is if Noarlunga had the entry forms so early why didn't Woodville or maybe the question should be asked where did Noarlunga get them form. After all Woodville is the centre that is hosting the tournament. They should be the first to get them.

In saying all of the above, as at the 15th December I don't know if I was the first to put an entry into the SA Cup but I know at least one person will be turning up on the long weekend (ME). :D :D

Sneezy,

In answer to your comments,

The SA Cup entry form was sent to print on Monday the 9th (after approval was given by the National Tournament Director - One day after the Australian Cup.) The details were posted on this website and amfbowling.com.au on the Tuesday 10th. A printout of the Entry form was faxed to Woodville on the Tuesday also.

After calling in some favours, the entry form was printed and delivered to the office in 2 days. The entry forms for ALL Centres in Australia (independants and AMF alike) were packed and delivered to the post office on the Wednesday the 11th, and the individual ones were folded packed and finally posted on the Friday the 13th.

Unless it was a printout of a draft version of the entry form, or they mysteriously got a copy of the file off MY computer and got them printed themselves THERE IS NO WAY they could have been anywhere sooner. If it was a printout of a draft version, the Prize Fund would have been incorrect. If youve still got this entry form you got from Noarlunga, please let me know. Im guessing if you look closely you might find some differences between the two.

IN OTHER NEWS : Mr Frilingos has told me he may not be making an appearance at the SA CUP. Sad day indeed. Maybe he will change his mind. Who knows !! What will it take to get Shooter there ?

For 17 years the entry forms were out at the nationals', in which they should be. They alway's leave it to the last minute.
As for myself I actually am bowling for the fun of it. (if that's possible)
Hopefully I will not finish too close to the bottom and don't make too much of a fool of myself.!!!
see you there.

Bowlers a Plenty

Hi all

I know for a fact that there are six bowlers from Melbourne who are bowling SA Cup in 2003 who did not bowl in the tournament in 2002. So hopefully this means that there will still be plenty of people attending to keep the numbers up.

These 'new' bowlers are three who attended the Brunswick Canberra Open and had an absolute ball, and three other bowlers who have got the averages to perform well and hopefully will do so.

Airfares from Melb at the moment are still around the $200 mark (on the net) so if you are thinking of attending, send off your deposit and get yourself organised.

Watch out SA, Barons on his way over.
Enough Said.
Other WA Bowlers
Mike Muir
Steve Johnstone
Clinton Phelps
Chris Matthews
Michael Stock (I gotta new rubber boat) (See Brian Bridges about that one)

Any other Westerners going?

sa cup

Yo Stax.....Harty and Matty Fraggall are also part of the WA "tilt" this year so theres a bit of talent there but as for me I'll mainly be there for nuisance value but really looking forward to it. As Frawls says with a few "names" missing you never know. I think I said it was the High Roller, I meant USOpen of course. My bad. Seeya in SA Baron

BALLMEISTER RETURNS

Great to see the BALLMEISTER stepping out once again

Been out in the paddock far tooooo long

Perhaps next year he may even travel that bit further and head over to Sunny Canberra

Harty warming up with a stroll here in the Brunswick should do him well for Adelaide another of the favoured stomping grounds for Lefties (Woodville)

Well if Baron's coming, I'm there! There's been a change of plans, I'll be making an appearance again in sunny SA. Look forward to catching up with the WA flock, maybe we can squeeze in some darts somewhere?? Maybe Davey's house??

It will be interesting to see if the lanes play as tough as they did last year, either way, I'll be throwing the ball left and hoping for the best!

Have a good new year!

George from sunny townsville :D

George, sorry to say pal, you got 2 hopes of anything happeining at my place. we dont even have a dart board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I won't be there, I fly out 11.30am on the Saturday morning ( and get into LA 1 hour 15 mins before I leave LOL) and while I won't be there for the cup, 3 others are staying there to keep the good lady wife company and they are all lefty bashers LOL.

Anyway, good luck to all those competing at the SA Cup, it will be the first one I have missed since 1983. Just dont come round my place looking for a darts game. LMSAO.

Get going lefty your Plane is about to leave

I'm see everyone is SA as i'm making the step into adults

seeya later

At this stage there are only 38 entries for this event.

I have spoken with Tony Goodwin and it is DEFINATELY GOING AHEAD, and will not be cancelled. My suggestion is if you are planning to travel to Adelaide is to get your entry in ASAP.

The tournament entry details are in the Entry Forms forum.

Went out to the bowl today, still couldn't see any entry forms....

I wasn't planning on bowling, but it would be at least nice to see them put out, as I know they were posted here.

I went for a bowl on Sunday 5th January at Woodville bowl and to be exact. At 10 past 1 I was informed that there were 18 entries in A squad and 15 entries in B squad.

Between then and the time of this post there may have been more entries received but it definetly looks like the tournament has a lot of openings in it for more entries.

For those people that are thinking of giving it a go and think that they may be too late in sending in an entry then don't hesitate to do so. There are still plenty of spots left. With 57 spots still left to fill hopefully they will be filled by the time the 25th January comes along.

I was informed of a rumour on Friday night that the SA cup had been canned due to lack of entries.
Can anyone out there confirm this for me please.
Thanks
Rob T

Rob ..

It was - as of Friday afternoon - still going ahead with no changes. Ive been told there are around 50 entries and AMF are not planning to shut this one down.

If anything changes you will hear about it, but IT IS STILL GOING AHEAD !!

Give your informant a slap around the ears :)
