This seems totally obvious to me but I haven't seen any other posts on this subject, but sorry if there has been.

Why is it that I get everything I could want to know about a little known band fourth floor collapse sent to me via email, but I get nothing about the sport I love?

I'm sure there are many more bowlers than they have registered fans.

It doesn't have to be this way. If at the start of the season every bowler in every league submitted their email address to the center and the centers to the state body? to the Australian body? every bowler could know what was happening in Australian bowling at every level.

There would be many benefits to this that I wont go into but it would definately change the image of the sport if people know whats going on. If its not delivered to people, most people wont bother looking for it, but if it comes to them, they may take further interest.

good idea?

Westie,

Yes, you have a valid point BUT (and call me stupid if you will) but if you are able to access your web based e-mail (and also make posts on the forum for that matter) then maybe, just meybe you have access to one of the best information resources on the net for tenpin bowling in the form of Total Bowling.com.

If accessibility to the forum is the problem that you see then maybe it could be in the hands of bowling centres and word of mouth from bowler to bowler to spread the word about the website.

I'm sure that others will disagree but i cant see any need to doouble up on personally e-mailing information that is already available on this website.

Tenpin Bowling Australia does exactly what you are suggesting through their Website with the Yahoo groups. If you subscribe to this group you can be sent all TBA information by email.

KJ: I know people with net access can access Australian bowling sites, but they have to find them first and they need to visit them often to stay up to date which the average bowler probably wouldn't do without a reminder.

The information doesn't need to be doubled up either. Headings of topics could be emailed to bowlers with links to the relevant web page. But I dont think one site has all information about whats going on at every level i.e. center / state / country.

I'm sure AMF could see the benefit of emailing to all their bowlers about promotions tournaments etc.

Thanx Andrew I didn't know about the mailing list, but you can see what I mean about people not knowing these things. This is why bowling centers should subscribe their bowlers.

To get more bowlers actively involved in bowling they need to be better informed. I don't believe word of mouth is the best method. If it was, the average bowler might know who some of the best bowlers are in Australia (Not just Frawls and Cara).

I believe that we are on the first step of a long journey to get bowlers in Australia more aware of this and other related bowling sites. Everyone registered to this board may have noticed that I send them emails whenever we are looking to do a tournament live - if you have emails of your other bowling friends, I would appreciate if you would forward these emails on.

In the new year I am looking at securing some further sponsorship which will enable me to get advertising posters etc into centres. Doing these things isnt cheap, but I am slowly but surely getting there. I appreciate all the help I can get to promote TotalBowling. Tell your friends in league about it, forward any emails you get from me onto them. Let them come here and participate in the forum - look at the photos from the tournaments - make suggestions.

I want this site to be number 1 in Australian bowling and I need the help from everyone to spread the word until such time as I can arrange for advertising in the centres etc etc.

Cheers
