End of an Era!!!!

April's BMW NSW Country Open will bring down the curtain on the career of one of Australia's true bowling legends in Steve Lovell :(
After 30+ years at the top "Lovey" has decided to hang up his balls (bowling of cause!) to pursue new challenges. Over this time he has won everything from Daybreakers to Major titles and has represented his state and country many times with distinction. He is one of only a select few to have won titles in four seperate decades.
Anyone who has met Lovey over the years will understand the void he will leave when he retires, making his unique brand of sportsmanship, humour and entertainment irreplaceable.
If you haven't yet experienced one of the most fun weekends on the bowling calender then make the effort to get to Orange in April to say good-bye to the original entertainer.........LOVEY!! :D :D

Wow, one of the greats calling the game quits, Very sad news indeed.

You have brought alot of smiles to peoples faces over the years with your jokes and your on lane antics you will be missed by many I am sure, but like all bowlers I am sure you will pop your head in from time to time for a look.

I wish Lovey all the best for the future, and good luck with what ever you pursue.

Good Luck.

Wow... I'm very sorry to hear that Lovey's giving up the game... as a young bowler, i remember meeting Steve for the first time and I was very impressed by his sportsmanship and his professionalism on the lanes.
Thank you so much for everything you've done for bowling and you will definitely be missed!

It is a shame to see Steve go, one of the greats of the sport in this country. He always seemed very approachable and genuinely enjoyed the sport for what it is.

Best of luck for the future Steve.

Lovey,

You will truly be missed from our sport.

Australia's answer to PDW you are one of the true characters who had all the moves, a quick wit and an awesome game. Some of the things I have seen you do on a lane are among the funniest ever.

You also had time to talk to young up and comers and give them some pearls of wisdom from your many years at the top.

The game needs people like you, and you will be sorely missed.

Best of luck in whatever you choose to do - maybe you could teach Russell Crowe and his band of "Drummer Boys" some new moves :D :D

Steve Hunt:D

Lovey, lovey, lovey............

WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I'll go back to being the oldest guy out there again!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the last true personalities is leaving the game and will be truly missed (except by the right handers LOL)

Enjoy retirement.

Lovey, it has been a pleasure bowling with you in the past few years. You have been a great help to the junior and youth bowlers over the years and it would be fantastic to see more of the top bowlers in this country as approachable as you and willing to give some advice. I can thank you for your support in the past few years, especially when i was still in NSW. With your character on the lanes, and comments in the bar, you will definately be missed mate. I'm sure we will see you around checking out how the sport is going after your retirement.
Good luck with everything in the future

I'll have to hold back the tears, Lovey has been an idol of mine since I was 6, the blonde man with the fancy coloured pants was hard to forget. I've been fortunate to become good friends with him and bowl with him a lot.

His achievements are second to none, he'll be sadly missed but never forgotten.

He is part of my classic 'LEFTY GOD SQUAD', not many left now.....

Lovey i will miss the fun times we have had together in nearly every Casino in Australia not to mention the trouble you have gotten me into at times, all good stuff and memories we keep on laughing about today.

Good luck with retirement i will talk to you soon.

Dave.

Steve my wife will be dissapointed
after all she never came to a tournament to watch me bowl
Thanks for your colourfull words of wisdom over the years

Best wishes Donny and family

I've never seen Lovey bowl in person but I've seen the tapes and it's very sad that he's retiring. Still he has had a great career and he'll go out on a high note I'm sure.

Lovey, all the best for the future.
