Dumb things that happen at my league

You would think that a league that always starts at the same time each week would have a booking. Not only did we have to wait for a large group of social bowlers, we also had to wait for one of our own members to post bowl for the pervious week before we could start bowling this week.

Firstly if you and your committee tolerate the staff treating your league with disdain you will continue to rated second.Meet with the manager and let him/her know that what they did is un acceptable.
Ask management what would be there attitude if your league came into bowl at all differant times.
Secondly one of the biggest demises to the sport of bowling is the over use and abuse of pre and post bowls, allowing one member to bowl alone is a joke and it is getting worse. It is a sport when you bowl against an opponent on the same conditions on the same day or night.
Fancy the idea of Gehrig from the saints kicking for goal at telstradome while Neitz prefers his shots at the MCG.
Mostly the reason we bowl is for the social outlet and having fun with a particular group of people, if 20 to 25% of those people arn't there it creates a gap that just gets wider.

That itself is a problem, not a good idea to have bowl management of any sort on the committee.
If the bowl had an excess of social bowlers as against league bowlers you would think he/she would dispence with league all together.;) Food for thought hmmm.

I agree. Every league should have a limit on pre-bowls and post-bowls because the system does get abused.
Just a question, is the centre an AMF bowling centre??

Whilst I do not like pre or post bowling, since moving to the country I realise that it is something to be looked at here. A small bowling centre where the membership is also small. We have bowlers who are in the CFA, who work off shore and cattle farmers.

Whilst this means nothing to most people, these people have unusual emergencies at the drop of a hat. I do feel for the farmers as they don't have anybody to rely on if something crops up with live stock. These are all family run business.

So whilst I do not agree with especially post bowling, I do understand the situation.

However post bowling needs to be done before the commencment of the next round and not hold up the next round......

Grumpi the next round should not be effected by a post bowl as averages stand as at the time the games are bowled, presuming this is what you are referring to.
Virgil.:)

Beau,

Grumpie was referring to the fact that the league could not bowl because the one person post bowling was using the lanes. Also the post bowler had to bowl again for the current week. (ie 3 games post and 3 games current in the night)
