my name is Daniel Dickson
i started bowling at lawnton tenpin when i was about 15 i think in '91
bowled junior 1 year then a adult league with my family for a couple of years
then back to juniors for my last year as a junior
i also worked as a junior tech there until just after i started my apprenticeship
i continued to bowl at lawnton oblivious to any tournyments outside of that centre until they moved to strathpine
that change coupled with childeren help decline my interest in the sport
i had attended state youth camp in 94 and rolled off for eccc the same year
after this i took up pool playing a grade pool on the northside of brisbane
10 years later after some social nights with mates bowling
i thought yeah i might give it a go and see how i cope
i thought i will try out for deveer and try and get my average up in to 180 +
as that was my average when i left 10 years ago
if i didnt meet these goals i would think about whether this is for me
i made deveer 2006 and for a few months held a low 190 average and finished the year with a 189 average
ps... one thing i have noticed about the sport compared to pool is almost everybody is so friendly and make an effort to talk to you
in pool everyone hates each other
pss... parents please look into what the centre can do for juniors as my centre didnt advertise about anything other then home comps if i had bowled somewhere else as a junior i may have not given up
