I was just wondering if anyone in Australia has heard anything about the Commonwealth Tournament to be held in Glasglow from 4 to 10 August 2002. We understand that the teams would consist of two males, and two females from each country, and be bowled under the same format as the Commonwealth Games were in Malaysia in 1998. We also understand that the medals will be the official Commonwealth Games Medals from the Manchester games that finish a couple of days earlier.
Unfortunately we have been unable to obtain any confirmed information. Attached below is the original e-mail our Congress received informing us of the Tournament (note we have heard that the date has changed since this original e-mail).
Ladies and gentlemen,
I refer to the good news given to us recently by our President, Dato
Dr.P.S.Nathan, that our Sport has finally been given the tentative approval to
host the First Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championships in Scotland between
18 and 23 July 2002. This approval has only been given to us, following some
major efforts from all those concerned.
Whilst I would like to thank those of you who have already confirmed their
participation, may I please request those who have not yet responded, to do so.
Our Sport has been given a chance to prove itself, let us all respond and show
some of the World's sports' leaders that we are worth their consideration.
Thank you.
Warm regards,
Julian Pace Bonello
Chairman WTBA Commonwealth Games Committee.
