The announcement of the venue for the VII Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championship has been enthusiastically greeted by CTBF member Federations, with preparations now underway for teams to travel to Johannesburg in November from all corners of the Commonwealth.
TBASA President and leader of the 2016 Championship Organising Committee, Vaughn Williams, has released details of the dedicated website – www.ctbc2016.org – and associated social media platforms.
“Our Facebook and Twitter links are also now live and will simplify the communication process for all involved as we prepare for what promises to be a truly exciting sporting and cultural adventure,” he stated.
“This is the first time the Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championship will be held on the African continent and we are ecstatic to showcase what our country has to offer – we’re confident the combination of intense, but friendly competition on the lanes and the opportunity to explore and experience the unique variety of tourist attractions here in South Africa will be a further drawcard,” he added.
The official VII CTBF website includes the first Bulletin, proposed Championship schedule, registration forms, technical details of the Northcliff Bowling Centre and information regarding the nominated accommodation provider – Marriott’s Roodepoort Protea Hotel. The Bulletin also provides some fascinating statistics regarding South Africa’s geography and culture, and explains its reputation as ‘Sunny South Africa’.
Further information will be added to the website in the lead up to the Championship and the site will carry live scoring throughout the tournament, with the Finals streamed live.
