One of the major problems people usually find is happening is they try to over rotate the wrist or rotate the wrist too early. Instead of the thumb coming out on top of the ball it tends to go futher and exit around 10 oclock. The only thing i find that works for keeping behind the ball is to make sure my index and pinky fingers are spread across the ball at a comfortable distance, then make sure i keep pressure on the ball with these fingers. It locks your wrist into position for your shot and as long as you keep your thumb relaxed (dont grip with it) then it comes out of the ball cleanly every time.
