Patricks idea for the concept, but im running the poll.

Once a month, pot games, different centres.

Are you in, or out? Ive got a few centres that will more than likely look after the bowlers, as im sure others around also have.

suggestions are welcomed!

Hey Tonx,

I have a couple of formats for Pot Games that can be used. Basically skins formats, but with a change.

1 l really like is from NZ.

Each pot increases. You need to win by 11 pins. 10 or less, and you only get 50% of the pot. The other 50% jackpots to the next skin.

You can run this over about 10 games and really have some fun for entry around $100. Depends a lot on game rates though as to how well you can make the prizefund grow, or even increase the entry fee to $150, and have some real fun. Will see if l can post something a little later in the vening with prizefunds for entries.

I was thinking of a monthly vote for bowlers, as to which format/entry fee they want for the month.

This way, we can adjust the entry fee each month based on what else is on.

eg: AO and SPC months, we might run a lead up tournament, with a cheap entry fee ($40-$80) to keep within people on a budget. Where months where there is nothing on, we might run a few $100-$150, with the final one of the year being around $200.

I was also thinking of a tournament of Champions towards the end of the year (Ill hunt some decent sponsors) where the top 20 (or so) ranked guys fight it out in stepladder playoffs.

If you could post after you vote, just so I know ive got some decent numbers, ill start organising sponsorships, centres, etc etc.

Keep in mind, this isnt only to the Guys, as Miss Lee Booth PROVED at Boronia, the women can match it with power players. If I get a minimum of 10 female entries for any given month, ill put something up for that as well.

The good thing is, there are a few centres out there (mostly independant run) that have access to a kegal, and can control the shot that goes down. These independant centres have been great in the past in supporting these types of events, and im sure with good numbers, they will come to the party again!

For those that want strike fests we can include easier shots some months, and for those that like a challenge, we can put down some tougher shots.

Lance, im hoping to get some serious help on this one from you and your guys. I've seen what these types of tournaments can do when set up properly, and ive seen what can happen when they are rushed.

All in all, im simply a (YOUTH) bowler who wants something more to bowl in, so ill do everything I can, but I cant do it without some support from you guys.

Tell me what you want, and ill find a way to get it done.

Regards

Hey tonx,

Yea i would bowlin them, sounds like a decent idea.... good one...

Hey Tonx,

Sounds like a good idea.

Would love the chance to bowl with some of the best in Victoria, on a regular basis and at an affordable fee.

Below are a few ideas that myself and a few others I know would like to bowl in:
Skins or pot format
Some sort of matchplay structure / stepladder would be sweet as.
Knockout rolloff games .
Some style of 40 Frame / Bonus game
Possibly some sort of supergame series.
Six frame games or race to 6 strikes.

Personally I would like to get some more experience on some sport shots, or some patterns that are used in the PBA.

So I'll put my hand up, and my other hand for other bowlers I know.
Keep me informed,

Cheers,
Brad

Brad,

have you are mates thought about going to Sunshine this weekend.

Only $60 an entry. Plenty of space in the Sat squads.

A chance to bowl with a few of the state reps.

Elimantion style final on the sunday, andthe final is pot luck for the draw. Just pull a name from a hat, and that is who you play.

Brad, thanks for the reply!

I was thinking for all the guys that don't cash/cut/whatever, to have a mystery game at the end. This could include elimination strikeathons (like dunn shield etc) split combination pick ups, or house ball shots amongst other things.

I wanna see if Chandler and the Werribee "bruise brothers" are gunna bring some game to the table. Bring some of that country cup trash talk to this, and lets see if it is worth the sponsors time to put some cash up!

What about the "Chaddy boys"? I know they are always up for Pot Games/skins tournaments! Knox (Gary) and Dandy (Doddsy) could have their war that we have all been waiting for? I know most Keon Park bowlers have class, but can they shoot the high games under pressure when needed?

Here you go mate.

10 games

48 bowlers

$150 entry fee

Game 1 $150.00
Game 2 $200.00
Game 3 $250.00
Game 4 $300.00
Game 5 $350.00
Game 6 $400.00
Game 7 $450.00
Game 8 $500.00
Game 9 $700.00
Game 10 $1,000.00

If we get a game rate around $4 from a centre this can be run.

Then all we need to look at is the stuff for the BBQ.

Still this is a good prizefund for a 1 day event.

Win each skin by 11, if 10 or under, then you win 50% of the skin, jackpot the remainder.

Great 1 day event, you can run 3 per lane, if needed to accomodate the centre. Would take the day to bowl, but be great fun l think.

I'll be in and it would be great to bowl on some heavy oil maybe even something similar to what we have in geelong or longer. the pot games sound like fun.

I thought the idea was pot games..NOT gimmick mini-tournaments. Let's bowl scratch for $10, $15 or $20 or more per game per person.
Whoever shows up and has enough cajones and cash bowls one game against the rest of the field. Winner take all. Bottom half of the scores pay for lineage.

Repeat this all day/night long until everyone quits.
Who's in? Or are you all a bunch of softies.

The idea, Mr Chester, is to provide something that bowlers are going to show up, have a chance to win some cash, and then afterwards, instead of going off and doing their own thing, having a beer and a BBQ to celebrate a good competitive days bowling. I will do whatever it takes to run AT LEAST 1 of these ideas successfully, even if it means putting some of my own cash up to help gain entries.

Its great to see some youth bowlers wanting to support a Victorian event, but I also wanna see the older guys, who have moaned and groaned that there is nothing to bowl put their hands up, and accept the challenge of getting something running. Guys like Lance, Ralph, Lindz, Finchy, Alex, myself etc etc rock up to EVERY event we can to support these ideas, but after its all said and done, if the numbers arent there, then there is no hope. If something isnt to your liking, tell me, and ill change it. Like I said before, ask for what you want, and ill find a way to get it done.

In regards to your challenge, name the place and time, and ill keep bowling till they kick me out. I dont care who you put me against, because I love bowling competitively. How long has it been since you picked up a ball? Can you last 50-100 games against a youngin like myself?;) Im sure Lindz and his boys are up for it as well...

If you want to help set something up to your liking, please pm me, as an experienced bowler like yourself knows what works, and what doesn't. Im sure that you can bring something to the table that will spark some interest. Will this be enough to pull the great Wayne Chester out of retirement? If so, ill shout the first slab at the BBQ.

Interstaters also offer some feedback. Im sure if we can gain enough entries in a couple of these, some of the big boys from QLD, NSW and SA would have to be tempted. I would invite the Tasmanians, but they have 2 heads, and I can't afford to supply enough bangers and booze to keep both heads from talking afterwards!:D

For those not interested, please post constructive feedback as to why you answered no. If its lack of HOT blondes, I can arrange that, all you need to do is ask!

Yours in Bowling,

Tonx

Tonx, count me in provided that i have the cash at the time. Sounds good and i could really do with some extra cash. I will also bring Dave Cardona in if he is cashed up at the time.

Peter and Adrian, thanks for the interest! Alex, I knew you would be in, youre a champ ;)

Im still waiting for the Chaddy boys, and Werribee (not sure what to call you guys yet) to come to the party, perhaps they are scared?

sounds like a pretty good idea to me!
I'd be in depending whatelse is going on at the same time..... and if it's a cheapie that means I should be able to afford it :D

Depending on fundage at the time, i'd definately be in
Good chance to improve on the skills, take notes / learn from the better bowlers out there, and who know's, win some $$ !
