Bigpond Mail - Anyone else having problems ?

Andrew S.

Gold Coast
Haven't been able to receive emails for 2 weeks now, and the Telstra webmail site is also out of action a lot of the time.
Is this only happening in SE Qld or is it a wider problem?

Gday Andrew,

Bigpond belongs in a very big pond, used it to do work at the Football Club, and at the bowl a few times and I spat it with it in the end - it's an absolute POS :x

Probably stuffed everywhere knowing Telstra

Hi Tasmania - Yes you are right about it being a POS, unfortunately there aint no other cable provider round here. We've got it coming in with Foxtel.
We are seriously considering changing to ADSL, but I don't know how fast that is compared to cable.
We've taken the Launchpad software out of our system in favour of something better just wish there was an alternative mailing system.

Andrew

ADSL is comparable in speed to Cable , there are some slight overheads with ADSL - the highest speed you can get most times is 55-56k/sec on a 512/128 plan.

If you are looking at ADSL, I would suggest you look at Broadband Choice http://www.broadbandchoice.com.au

Email me - as I do have some recommendations on ADSL providers depending on your needs.

Yeah i had troubles with it, i rang telstra for the i-dont-know-how-many-ith time about it last week and got it sorted. Just call them up on 133 933 if you are on dial up.

"TELSTRA ADMITS EMAIL DELAYS"
Bigpond's email deliveries have been delayed by up to several days, after an unexpected 20 to 25% increase in traffic caused by computer viruses and worms, Telstra said yesterday.

Spokeswoman Kerrina Lawrence said the email surge began in August, when viruses and worms peaked, and had remained constant since, resulting in a compound increase in emails to around 13 million on some days.

Telstra will consider compensation claims on an individual basis.
