The international players will be well represented in the finals as Canadian Joe Ciach and Brandon Qualischefski from Australia advanced from the Open Division. Ciach led the squad with 701, with Qualischefski a mere six pins behind in second position.

Don Fowler from Overland Park, Kan., rolled games of 248 and 258 to win the first of two Dexter Sweepers Monday evening in the 13th Annual Mini-Eliminator Center in Las Vegas. Fowler was the sole player to crack the 500-bar with 503 to win the $2,300 first prize. Tournament director Frank Ellenburg (right) presented Fowler with the check.
Ed Smaglik, Lafayette, Ind., was nine pins behind to finish second with 494, worth $1610. Third place belonged to Bryson Rogers, Midvale, Utah, who earned $1200 for his 483 score.
Hong Kong international Wu Siu Hong was the only player, who cashed on both entries. Siu Hong was tied for third and 16th place with 483 and 448 en route to cash $1630. Other international cashers were two-time megabuck champion Lasse Lintilä from Finland and European ranking leader Jason Belmonte from Australia.
