Three of Australia’s best-known tenpin bowlers currently figure in the top 16 rankings of the Asian Bowling Federation. All three hail from New South Wales and leading the field on 205 points is Jason Belmonte from Orange, with Jarrod Lean from Wamberal on the Central Coast in 7th place on 120 points and former World Masters Champion Michael Little from Newcastle in 16th place with 85 points.

Lean and Little were members of the multi-medal winning team at the 22nd East Asian Pacific Championships held recently in Macau, and while Belmonte had to withdraw following selection in the team due to a clash of dates with the WTBA World Ranking Masters in the USA, his outstanding performances at the ABF Tour Tournament of Champions, the 30th Malaysian Open, the Kuwait leg of the ABF Tour and this year’s World Ranking Masters has earnt him the Zone’s top ranking ahead of Kuwait’s Fadhel Al-Mousawi and Indonesia’s Ryan Lalisang on 178 and 164 points respectively.

With scant representation by Australian women at ranked events so far this year, they will be relying on medals at the forthcoming WTBA World Women’s Championships in Mexico to begin earning rankings points. Currently on top of the leaderboard in the female division is Korea’s Kim Eun Jung on 229 points, with Vanessa Fung from Hong Kong on 183 and Japan’s Kanako Ishimine third on 150 points.
