Five Asian Zone bowlers are among the 217 participants currently registered for the 2009 Brunswick Aalborg International, commencing in Denmark on Monday, 18 May. Now in its eighth year, the BAI has attracted bowlers from 18 countries – it is Stop #7, and classified as a Major on the immensely popular European Bowling Tour.
PBA’s 2008 Rookie of the Year, Jason Belmonte, is Australia’s sole representative at this year’s BAI, and Belmo will be accompanied by four bowlers from Singapore, including Kingdom of Bahrain International Open champion, Remy Ong.
Due to a hand injury sustained by Finland’s Pasi Uotila, Ong has been elevated into the top 16 in the male division of the EBT Masters 2009 which will also be conducted at the Lovvang Bowling Centre in Aalborg following the conclusion of the BAI. Belmo also features in the top-6 lineup for EBT Masters honours, between 24-25 May.
