Andrew Lloyd from NSW bowled the first ever 300 game at AMF Dee Why Bowl to seal a 141 pin victory in the inaugural Surfs Up Classic in Sydney.
After qualifying in 7th place, Lloyd averaged 236.6 in Matchplay (232.6 overall) and finished with a tournament best 13-2 Win/Loss matchplay record. His 248 average for the first 10 games of the final set up a huge lead with 5 games to go, and it eventually ended up the final 141 pin margin over second placed Andrew Frawley (229.2 ave).
Victorian Paul Trotter climbed from 12th place overnight to finish in 3rd place (227.33 ave) and in the process wrapped up the AMF Super Six title for a second consecutive year. George Frilingos from Queensland finished a further 144 pins behind Trotter in 4th, and claimed 2nd place in the Overall Standings for 2003.
The final was domainated by bowlers from NSW, with only two representatives from QLD, and one each from Victoria, England and the USA making the final.
A fall by visiting Pro bowler Michelle Feldman in game 13 ended her campaign. She injured her knees in the fall, and was unable to complete the final - finishing her in 16th place. A part of the sole of her shoe coming apart on her approach was the cause of the fall.
