The Ref

Both the Aussie guys are doing great so far.
Benton Davy is currently 33rd on 1259 (6 games) with Mick Little sitting in 96 with 1173 for his 6 games. By the way this is out of 347 bowlers.
There is alot of good pro's who are currently sitting below Mick so he isnt doing to bad so far. But to Brenton Davy what a fantastic effort so far and keep up the good work both of you.

Frawls was supposed to be bowling but he qualified for one of the High Roller sweeper finals earlier in the week. I think he's decided to take the sure thing over the long shot. Maybe he'll post himself so we know for sure!

25 percent of the bowlers cash. That makes low to cash about 86/87 place. The cut to the top 25 percent is after 18 games. Right now 87th is 1182 or 197 average for 6 games. A number of Pros are below 87th position right now. Those below include Walter Ray Jr, Patrick Healy, and Robert Smith.

Correction. The first cut is after three blocks of 6 games or after 18 games not 24 games as previously stated.

2003 U.S. OPEN

Day 2 and both Brenton and Michael have slipped further down the field.
Brenton with a 1081 is now in 98th place on a tie. Michael with a 1137 is now in 124th on a tie. Michael had an 810 for the first 4 then 161,166 to finish.

Brenton with his total of 2340 is only 14 pins out of the cut for 86th place. There are also 14 bowlers between him and the cut. Michaels total of 2310 is 44 pins out of the cut and 38 bowlers between him and the cut.

Walter Ray jumped from 144th yesterday to 59th today with a 1259. The boys just need a bit of luck for tomorrow and good lanes to throw a good score.

sport condition bowling !! isn't it great to see walter ray bowls 59 pins over the card for 6 games and moves up 80+ places :D :D well done to both brenton and mick good to see some aussies mixing it with the best in the world on true conditions.

yeah Brenton 51st, Mick 62nd - but is that with 3rd round completed ? I dont think it is .. could be wrong though ..

they cut now to the top 1/4 of the field, who all cash as someone mentioned earlier .. another 9 games then cut to the top 24.

2003 U.S. OPEN

No go for Brenton and Michael. Brenton threw 1078 to finish 149th and Michael threw 1006 to finish 200th, started with a 219 and went down from there. Walter Ray threw 1356 to go to 12th place from 59th.
For some interesting reading go to the pba site, scroll down on the left to message boards, then down to "west coast" and read "worlds most expensive practice" and "abcd", some of the posters are pro's who are bowling and of course, some are just stirrers. (note from mod : or just click here http://www.pba.com/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=11 )

I wonder what changes Walter Ray Williams made from round to round. He was 144th after round one, 59th after round two and 12th after round three. You don't make up that much gound doing that same thing. I am sure he is going to move up even more in the future rounds.

They just finished the 4th round. Walter Ray Jr. is third. Now I really wonder what changes he made.

Here are the top ten after the 4th round:

1, Ryan Shafer, Elmira, N.Y., 5,822
2, Michael Haugen Jr., Victorville, Calif., 5,776
3, Walter Ray Williams Jr., Ocala, Fla., 5,757
4, Mika Koivuniemi, Finland, 5,744
5, Rick Steelsmith, Wichita, Kan., 5,684
6, Steve Jaros, Bolingbrook, Ill., 5,682
7, (TIE) Norm Duke, Clermont, Fla.
Danny Wiseman, Baltimore, 5,674
9, Christopher Sand, Chesterfield, Mich., 5,668
10, John May, Lincolnton, N.C., 5,660

The biggest drop was Randy Peterson. He was tied for 5th and dropped to 25th. As a result he does missed the cut for the match game rounds.

Set to be one hell of a show down!

As anyone checked the Walter Ray Williams Jr. Website?? Last time i went there, which was a long while ago, when it was first posted on this site, he told us all what he did from game to game, round to round, maybe the answer to what changes he made lies there...?

Later Da Cowman

Final results

1, Walter Ray Williams Jr., Ocala, Fla.
2, Michael Haugen Jr., Victorville, Calif.
3. Pete Weber, St Ann, Mo.
4, Mika Koivuniemi, Finland

Looked like the shot was speed with no hand.

Film clip of Walter Ray showed him going slight angle 10. 11 board in earlier squad. On TV he was doing a slight swing on 15 board. He was using a Icon 300. Drilled just for TV?
