    Scotch Brite

Is there such thing as a perfectly drilled ball though? Maybe at pro tour level, but there are so many variables to take into account...unless you have money to burn and a dozen test balls at your disposal. You can drill a ball up to do a certain thing, fine tune the reaction with balance holes...

    Looking for Brenton Davey?

I think he's saying that he's a back up bowler, so it would be a negative pin (ie. 6-7" from pap or somethin). With backup you should obviously lay it out for a lefty and fit it for a righty. Still, the posts are scary :p

    Ball Drilling course

Cool, sounds about right then. Personally I would love to see TBA treat it like they treat coaching including accreditation the same way. Takes a lot longer to do but I'm thinking it would be more reputable and respected. Ball Drilling and all it covers is a long neglected area of tenpin bowling...

    Ball Drilling course

Regardless, you cant have an all encompassing ball drilling course held over 1 or 2 days...it would be absolute basic level at best.

    Possible Layout help

The fire road and victory road are virtually the same ball, same core/rg/diff values, different cover stock. The victory road should handle more oil, make it 50 x 4" x 30 or something for good midlane and a strong reaction off the spot. Axis hole on the VAL below the PAP and midline. The fire...

    Ball Drilling course

Think the TBA should do a course that provides ball drilling accreditation. Good ball drillers generally know what works and what doesnt anyway, through years of experience, and also trial and error, but a piece of paper cant hurt. Also might make more people come to said accredited ball driller.

    Possible Layout help

Information that could help would include PAP, RPM and speed (so we know if you are speed or rev dominant). Most people in Australia dont know their axis tilt and axis of rotation though these things help as well. Also what conditions do you want to bowl on...lots of difference between THS and...

    2012 VSS - Event 5 @ Epping Sunday 2nd September

Do we need to get on top of this, great core of bowlers willing to bowl in this series but we cant let it slip. I know Luke is busy at the moment and he is the main guy, but we need to protect this series and keep the bowlers updated?

    Is It Just Me ?

Because how is 90% of information exchanged these days? If not here then the TBA website. If not there then random discussions on facebook or other social networking. In theory bowlers should have better access to information because its so easy to get. Its the decline of bowling in general, not...

    Any proshop in Mel?(near CBD)

Agree, although I guess a slight hassle logistically. I guess I just miss the old proshop within the centre thing. Having said that, we wont be going anywhere and will still try our hardest to compete with the online guys. We also protect the distributors this way who really have no recourse to...

8 pins start for women commencing in 2013

Was a bit of a victim of this in the latest sports series in Vic. Had a 9th and 10th frame rolloff with Cassie Staudinger to make the matchplay, even though I out-averaged her by 8. She's a great bowler, no shame in being beaten by her. Is it a bit hard to swallow? not really, but a blanket 8...

    Any proshop in Mel?(near CBD)

Generally I agree with you, there are times when its justified though. If a bowler is having problems and a driller is willing to spend a couple of hours with them doing the full fitout, this is invaluable in my opinion. However for a straight drill that takes half an hour with no real effort...

    Any proshop in Mel?(near CBD)

You're getting into details here mate and thats fine, i can only give you details from my experience though. *You'd be surprised how many high end bowlers dont know their PAP. Drilling and bowling at a high level for 20 years confirms this. *No of course they dont pay the same price every...

    Any proshop in Mel?(near CBD)

Its still a vastly underrated service, cant emphasize that enough so i'm not even going to try. Here we include the cost of drilling in the ball, which will still come in well under $300. but even if you do bring a ball in and pay our standard $70...you get 15 or 20 minutes on the lanes before...

    Any proshop in Mel?(near CBD)

I agree that centres have been overcharging way too long, but some of us are bringing the prices back to competitive levels and adding plenty of service as well. In centre proshops will become extinct if centres dont dont smarten up. At Werribee thats what we are trying to do.

I would disagree mate and say most centres dont have a quality ball driller.
