    The Physics of Bowling

Hey Folks, Want to get some more meaningful discussion going on here. Seems really quiet. Some of this is really basic but overall is a very cool read. http://www.real-world-physics-problems.com/physics-of-bowling.html

    Bowling Ball

Don't want to be the naysayer, but is there even Heavy Oil in Australia? My advice is don't get caught up in hype around Heavy Oil balls. I don't think any brands make a Medium Oil ball that can't cover nearly any house condition or even most tournament patterns here. Just because it rolls...

    Best year you've ever had

2005 for me. Even though I didn't win anything that year like others have. That was my first 300 and in a centre where you have a 300 every 5 years and my skills and average across the board sky rocketed that year. It's when I got the confidence to start doing more tournaments and eventually go...

    After opinions from resellers

I reckon it sits with the buyer. It's the risk you take by purchasing on-line without trying them on. If I ordered a pair from overseas and they didn't fit, that's on me but I always prefer to buy local.

    Track 508A 15lb ($50) or Trade

Hey Ladies and Gents, Pulled the 508A out of the bag after a long break and it barely fits anymore. So looking to move it on, it's had only 50-60 games. Could use a clean. Happy to sell for $50 and hopefully locally in Melbourne. Trades: Only really looking for a single ball bag with...

    Highest league average in Australia

I think the numbers and your comment Carl, pretty much sums it up. No doubt, Jeff Carter is a fantastic bowler. 261 average, and at one point he had 97 300 Games. Not sure what he has now. Yet, in 14 years on the PBA. He has earnt $441,000. ($50,000 less than Jason Belmonte has in 5 years)...

    Highest league average in Australia

Correct, it was Jeff Carter. Holds the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) record for highest sanctioned league average (261.74)[1] and has bowled 112 USBC-sanctioned perfect 300 games. In PBA events, he has recorded 24 perfect games through the 2009-10 season.

It's a Sad Day, All The Gear Has Got To Go.

Hey Everyone, Unfortunately, the aftermath of a major motorcycle accident is finally taking it's toll after a few years. I am selling all my gear and might buy some lighter gear next year and try again. First in best dressed, would love to offload several things at once if possible. All...

Where to next for Ball Companies?

I recently threw some new gear from a few different companies while in the US. In all honesty it was nothing new that hasn't been covered. Just more colours and fancy weight blocks and coverstock names to fool the masses. I haven't seen much of a change in what a ball can do in the past few...

Choosing A Centre? Why did you pick yours?

Hey folks, Been a while since we got one of these going? Having moved around a bit recently I have been through quite a few Centres. After a talk with a fellow TBer I thought I'd throw it to the public. I look at different aspects to most league bowlers who love a ditch. I can't stand...

    Howdy ballers!

Hi Matt, Welcome to the forum! It certainly has changed over the years. If you need equipment, be sure to check out the Classifieds for used gear if you are on a budget and don't want to spend much or speak to the local pro shop at Robina. If you are looking to get your game back, check...

The Lesson is Always the Same

Insightful as always John. Right on the money for me. When I am bowling well on any condition it is never about the release, angle. It's always spare shooting and consistent ball speed. I think ball speed is an often forgotten part of a lot of bowlers games. I know when I started, it was all...

    24 balls ?

I think the quality of the bowler and competitiveness is irrelevant. Some people buy a lot of gear to be competitive, some because they can, some because they want to. If you can and want to, go for it. I have 7 and don't bowl competitively. 5 are an Arsenal and 2 are old balls. I think...

    Bowling ball help needed

Exception 5.0 was a pretty strong rolling ball. The 912T by Track is probably the closest and is a killer ball. send me a pm and we can discuss it further. I bought a full Track arsenal late last year and they are all great.

    Is Bowling Really Easier Now?

Here's a conversation starter...is Bowling really easier than 20/30/40 years ago? No, I am not crazy. Yes, a 300 is bowled daily. We have ditches that allow people to bowl huge scores week after week. But at the end of the day, if you are a tournament bowler. Your aim is not to bowl a 300...

    Sanding

The first point about people not using out of box finish is very rare. Most people use the same finish that the ball comes with, at least until they bowl the ball for a while. Sure once you bowl a few games, you might make slight adjustments to the surface to suit your need. 500 vs 4000 grit...
